Our Identity and Our Mission

John 10:31-42

“…believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”

John 10:38b (NIV)

While the Pharisees focus on speeches and fear losing their power over the people, the Galilean teacher is not interested in climbing the ladder of success. Jesus identifies himself as the son of God who honors his Father through good works. His only desire as a good shepherd is to care for his flock.

His testimony today presents us with a provocative question: Why are we sons and daughters of God?

May our response serve as our identity and sustenance for the mission, recognizing ourselves as daughters and sons of God who work for good and who lovingly care for his flock. May God always strengthen us despite the threats, discredit, and impunity of those who hold power, thinking only of themselves and their privilege, so that we may remain at Jesus’ side.

Prayer: Gracious God, grant us the strength to remain faithful despite our fears. May the prophetic example of Jesus encourage us to combine hope with deeds of kindness and words of truth! Amen.

Nuestra identidad y nuestra misión

Juan 10:31-42

Creed a las obras, para que conozcáis y creáis que el Padre está en mí, y yo en el Padre

Juan 10:38b

Mientras los fariseos se centran en discursos y se muestran temerosos por perder su poder ante el pueblo, al maestro galileo no le interesa escalar puestos. Jesús se identifica como hijo de Dios que honra a su Padre a través de buenas obras. Su único anhelo como buen pastor, es cuidar de su rebaño.Su testimonio hoy nos provoca con una pregunta ¿somos hijos e hijas de Dios para qué? Que sirva nuestra respuesta como identidad y sustento para la misión, reconociéndonos hijas e hijos de Dios que obran para bien y cuidan con amor su rebaño.Dios nos dé fortaleza siempre y a pesar de las amenazas, el descrédito y la impunidad de quienes detentan el poder, pensando solo en sí mismos y en sus privilegios; para permanecer al lado de Jesús,

Oración: Dios bueno, danos la fortaleza de permanecer en la fe a pesar de nuestros miedos. ¡Qué el ejemplo profético de Jesús nos anime a tejer la esperanza con obras de bien y palabras de verdad! Amén.
