BEYOND BETRAYAL

Matthew 26:14-27, 66

And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”

Matthew 26:21 (NIV)

Driven by personal interests, Judas betrays Jesus, revealing how the heart can close itself off to love and open itself to selfishness. Betrayal arises in Jesus’ inner circle, his friends. We must ask ourselves, how often have we betrayed Jesus for personal interests, comfort or fear? What attitudes or actions distance us from the love of God and others?

Yet in the midst of disloyalty, we find Jesus preparing a meal; showing his desire to share, revealing that even in the midst of betrayals there is something greater that must prevail, thus revealing his humility, his closeness, and his willingness to include them in his mission.

Today, Jesus invites us to prepare spaces for gatherings, to share the table with those who need forgiveness and transformation. It is not just any table, it is the table set for those who wish to follow Christ, to embrace the faith community. This table unites us, heals us, brings us together as sisters and brothers, and challenges us to love as He loves.

Prayer: Our Father, allow us to renew our faith in your Holy Communion and to strengthen our relationships. Amen.

MÁS ALLÁ DE LA TRAICION

MATEO 26:14-27, 66

Mientras comían, les dijo: - Les aseguro que uno de ustedes me va a traicionar.

Mateo 26:21

Movido por intereses personales Judas traiciona a Jesús, y nos revela como el corazón puede cerrarse ante el amor y abrirse al egoísmo. La traición surge en el círculo más íntimo de Jesús, sus amigos. Preguntémonos: ¿Cuántas veces hemos traicionado a Jesús por intereses personales, comodidades o miedos? ¿Qué actitudes o acciones nos alejan del amor de Dios y de los demás?Sin embargo en medio de la deslealtad encontramos a Jesús preparando la cena; mostrando su deseo de compartir, revelando que aun en medio de las traiciones hay algo mayor que debe prevalecer y por ello revela su humanidad, su cercanía y su voluntad de incluirles en su misión.Hoy, Jesús nos invita a preparar espacios de encuentros, a compartir la mesa con quienes necesitan perdón y transformación. No es una mesa cualquiera, es la mesa dispuesta para quienes deseen seguir a Cristo, abrazar la fe comunitaria.  Esta mesa nos une, nos sana, nos hermana y nos confronta a amar como Él ama.

Oración: Padre nuestro, permítenos renovar la fe en tu Santa Comunión y fortalecer nuestras relaciones. Amén.
