THE TREASURE OF LIFE

Matthew 23:1-12

All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.

Matthew 23:12 (NRSV)

One of our great treasures as humans is that we always have the opportunity to serve. On this occasion, Jesus taught them about those good examples that brought joy to life and allowed them to enjoy the encounter. When we take on responsibility, whether at home or at work, we expect to receive some form of encouragement or reward for our efforts at some point. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong to have opportunities for recognition at work. What bothers Jesus is that we are hypocrites like these teachers of the law, who said one thing and did another.

Our teacher invites us to make service the hallmark of our lives, inspiring others to do the same. It should be that healthy attitude of doing something without expecting anything in return. When these actions come from the heart, God’s presence is there, waiting to be shared with others.

Prayer: Allow me, my God, to be able to serve you better all the days of my life, wherever I may be.

EL TESORO DE LA VIDA

Mateo 23:1-12

…porque el que a sí mismo se engrandece, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será engrandecido…

Uno de los mayores tesoros que tenemos como seres humanos es que siempre tenemos la oportunidad de servir. En esta ocasión, Jesús les enseñó sobre aquellos buenos ejemplos que alegraban la vida y permitían disfrutar del encuentro. Cuando desempeñamos alguna responsabilidad ya sea en el hogar o en el trabajo, esperamos recibir en algún momento un estímulo o gratificación por el trabajo realizado. Eso no quiere decir que sea malo tener oportunidades para el reconocimiento laboral. Lo que a Jesús le molesta es que seamos hipócritas como estos maestros de la ley, que decían una cosa y hacían otras diferentes.La invitación que nos hace nuestro maestro es que el servicio debe ser el distintivo de la vida que incite a los demás hacerlo. Debe ser esa actitud sana de hacer algo sin esperar nada a cambio. Cuando estas acciones nacen de corazón, ahí está la presencia de Dios esperando ser compartida con otros y otras.

Oración : Permite mi Dios que todos los días de esta vida pueda servirte mejor dondequiera que esté. Amén
