YOU HAVE A FRIEND

Exodus 33:11-17

 Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.

            Courtesy is not a word we often use to describe God. This is perhaps because  our concept of courtesy is limited to the idea of being cordial. However, in New Testament Greek, the word courtesy comes from two words: one is friend; and the other is: to the mind. Being courteous is to think of someone as a friend, an attitude exemplified to us by  God.

            When Moses was leading the Israelites in the desert, the Bible  tells us that Moses went to the meeting tent where God spoke to him face to face, as anyone would speak to a companion. Although we don’t meet with God face to face, we know that He wants to be our friend. Jesus also called his followers friends, for he embodied  God’s courtesy in all his relations.

            You may feel distant from God or see him as a stern Father; Nevertheless, He wants to be your Friend and be an intimate part of your life.

 

Prayer: Thank you Lord, for the intimacy and friendship you offer me.  I ask you to help me understand and fully value what it means to have you as a Friend.

TIENES UN AMIGO

Exodo 33:11-17

Y hablaba Jehová a Moisés cara a cara, como habla cualquiera a su compañero

Éxodo 33:11

            Cortés no es una palabra que usemos  a menudo para describir a Dios. Tal vez porque nuestro concepto de cortesía se limita a la idea de ser cordial. Sin embargo, en el griego del Nuevo Testamento, la palabra cortesía viene de dos palabras: una es amigo; y la otra es: a la mente. Ser cortés es pensar en alguien como un amigo, una actitud que Dios nos ejemplifica.

            Cuando Moisés guiaba a los israelitas en el desierto, la Biblia nos dice que Moisés iba a la carpa de reunión donde hablaba Jehová a Moisés cara a cara, como habla cualquiera a su compañero.  Aunque  nosotros no nos reunimos con Dios cara a cara, sabemos que Él quiere ser nuestro amigo. Jesús también llamó a sus seguidores amigos, pues encarnaba la cortesía de Dios en todas sus relaciones.

            Puede que te sientas distante de Dios o lo veas como un Padre severo; sin embargo, Él quiere ser tu Amigo y formar parte íntima de tu vida,

 

Oración: Gracias Señor, por la intimidad y amistad que me ofreces. Te pido me ayudes a comprender y valorar plenamente lo que significa tenerte como Amigo. Amén.
