EVIDENCE OF ADOPTION

Hebrews 12:7-11

Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Hebrews 12:11 (NRSV)

            In Jesus’ time, life was a lot about law and a little about grace. But I believe that in our time, we want to live with a lot of grace and little law.

            To be sure, fulfilling God’s law, in our condition of fallen humans, is a difficult task, but we need it even if is annoying to us. The law lets us recognize what sin is, and removing it from our lives, we are sanctified. Sanctification is a painful process, but it is the testimony that we have been adopted as children and our Father has not abandoned us.

            Sometimes, God demonstrates love through mercy. However, at other times it comes through discipline which teaches us what is good and desirable; God has adopted and justified you making you a citizen of his Reign. If we have received this privilege, then we live for God, keeping his Word, giving faithful evidence of a true conversion and not being Christians in name only, who go around ridiculing the name of Christ.

           

Prayer: Father, I thank you for your correction by which you don’t allow us to do what we want and frustrate our plans and expectations if they do not render glory to your Name, making us your true children. Amen.

EVIDENCIA DE LA ADOPCION

Hebreos 12:7-11

Es verdad que ninguna disciplina al presente parece ser causa de gozo, sino de tristeza; pero después da fruto apacible de justicia a los que en ella han sido ejercitados

Hebreos 12:11

            En los tiempos de Jesús se vivía con mucha ley y poca gracia. Pero creo que en nuestros tiempos estamos deseando vivir con mucha gracia y poca ley.

            Es cierto que cumplir la ley de Dios, en nuestra condición de seres caídos, es una tarea difícil, pero necesitamos de ella, aun cuando nos parezca molesta. A través de la ley podemos conocer lo que es el pecado, y apartándolo de nuestras vidas, somos santificados. La santificación es un proceso que duele, pero ese es el testimonio de que hemos sido adoptados como hijos y que nuestro Padre no nos ha abandonado.

            En ocasiones,  Dios te muestra su amor a través de su misericordia. Pero en otras lo hace con la disciplina que te enseña lo que es bueno y conveniente; Él te ha adoptado justificáándote y haciéndote un ciudadano de su Reino. Si hemos recibido ese privilegio, entonces vivamos para Él,  guardando su Palabra, dando fiel testimonio de una verdadera conversión y no siendo cristianos solo de nombre, los cuales andan por ahí ridiculizando el nombre de Cristo.

 

Oración: Te doy gracias, Padre, por tu corrección, porque no permites que hagamos nuestra voluntad, y frustras nuestros planes y expectativas si ellas no rinden gloria a tu Nombre, haciendo de nosotros verdaderos hijos e hijas tuyos. Amén.
