BEFORE DECIDING

Lamentations 3:21-26

Now the Lord came and stood there, calling as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

1 Samuel 3:10 (NRSV)

            Samuel lived in times when people didn’t want to listen to God. That doesn’t mean that God didn’t want to talk with people; God always tries to talk with us, but sometimes we harden our heart to his voice. Those were the circumstances in which God came to Samuel by night and Samuel finally responded, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

            There are times in life when we must make important decisions. Perhaps today may be such a day when you must make a response that your future and that of your family depend on, when you must take a position, but you don’t know what. For a moment, stop, and in the silence of your heart say, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” The invitation is to attempt to hear God’s voice in your heart and to allow it to guide you to the correct choice. Cry out for guidance; don’t live your life alone.

            Before the time comes for the answer, be sure that Jesus has spoken to your heart.

 

Prayer: Lord, we pray for those who must make a difficult, crucial decision for their lives. Illumine them today and always. Help us also to show them your face, your voice, your call. Amen.

ANTES DE TOMAR UNA DECISIÓN

Lamentaciones 3:21-26

Entonces vino el Señor y se detuvo, y llamó  como en las otras ocasiones: ¡Samuel, Samuel!  Y Samuel respondió: Habla, que tu siervo escucha.

1 Samuel 3:10

            Samuel vivió en días cuando las personas no querían escuchar a Dios. Eso no quiere decir que Dios no quisiese comunicarse con el ser humano; Dios siempre trata de hablarnos, pero a veces endurecemos nuestro corazón a su voz. Fue en esas circunstancias que Dios se presentó a  Samuel una noche y la respuesta final de Samuel fue: Habla, que tu siervo escucha.

            Hay momentos en la vida en las que hay que tomar decisiones importantes. Tal vez hoy sea uno de esos días, tienes que dar una respuesta de la cual depende el futuro tuyo y de tu familia, tienes que asumir una posición pero no sabes cuál. Por un instante detente, y en el silencio de tu corazón di: “Habla Señor, que tu siervo escucha”. La invitación es a tratar de escuchar la voz de Dios en tu corazón, y permitirle que te guíe para tomar la decisión correcta. Clama por orientación, no vivas tu vida solo.

            Antes de que llegue el momento de la respuesta, ten la seguridad de que Jesús habló a tu corazón.

 

Oración: Señor, te pedimos por aquellas personas que tienen que tomar una decisión difícil, trascendental para sus vidas. Ilumínales en este día y siempre. Ayúdanos también a nosotros a mostrarles tu rostro, tu voz, tu llamada. Amén.
