THE CALL

John  1: 45-46

… Come and see..

            When we convert to Christ we often hear the saying: “God is calling us”.  On other occasions we sing and preach, but do we know to what God is calling us? The Bible responds to these questions with an invitation from Jesus: Go into all the world and preach the gospel.

            Due to this, I would like to reflect on the text where we find the call to Nathaniel, for in him we find a practical teaching, a spontaneous and effective evangelism. Just like Phillip, let us approach a person (Nathaniel) and share our own experience and history of conversion.  Let us remember when Phillip approached and presented Nathaniel with his experience of Jesus (of whom it had been written, the son of Joseph…)  Let’s challenge him to experience it himself, without mediating doctrinal discussions (Come and see.)

            We have been trusted to announce the good news, we should do it in a practical way, with a coherent testimony.  For this you don’t have to be a theology graduate, we are all capable. Encourage yourself, and just like Phillip, share Christ through your own experiences. 

 

Prayer: Thank you Lord, for continuing to extend the call to your sons and daughters. Thank you for counting our voices for sharing your gospel.  Amen.

EL LLAMADO

            Cuando nos convertimos a Cristo escuchamos con frecuencia que se nos dice: “Dios nos está llamando”, en otras ocasiones lo cantamos o proclamamos, pero ¿sabemos a qué nos está llamando el Señor? La Biblia responde a esta interrogante con una invitación de Jesús: Id por todo el mundo y predicad el evangelio.

            Es por ello que me gustaría reflexionar en el texto en el que se le hace el llamado a Natanael, pues en él encontramos una enseñanza práctica, un evangelismo espontáneo y eficaz. Al igual que Felipe, acerquémonos a una persona (Natanael), compartamos nuestra propia experiencia e historia de conversión. Recordemos cuando Felipe se acerca y le presenta a Natanael su experiencia de Jesús (de quién se había escrito, el hijo de José…).  Retémosle a experimentar por él mismo, sin que medien discusiones doctrinales (Ven y ve).

            Se nos ha confiado anunciar la buena noticia, debemos hacerlo de forma práctica, con un testimonio coherente. Para ello no necesitas estar graduado de teología, todos estamos capacitados. Anímate, y al igual que Felipe, comparte a Cristo a través de tus propias experiencias.

 

Oración: Gracias Señor por seguir extendiendo el llamado a tus hijos e hijas. Gracias por contar con nuestras voces para compartir tu evangelio. Amén.
