THE EXIT

1 Corinthians 10:13

Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Matthew  26:41 (NRSV)

Everyone faces temptation. Scripture affirms that no one escapes it and that everyone becomes its victim. But don’t be discouraged. God provides a way out. Believers learn to endure and resist temptation by God’s grace. When they trust in the power that comes from the Holy Spirit, God provides them with the strength to resist. As Jesus tells us in today’s text, this willpower comes from being alert and praying.

No matter how hard we try, temptation sometimes wins. God  also has a plan for this. Jesus, his son, took upon himself all our pains and carried our faults. Through his sacrifice, Jesus provided a path for forgiveness and eternal life for all believers. He watches  and prays that you do not fall into temptation.

Sometimes I think that our Church does not talk much  about these issues. It is very beautiful that the good news that we preach has an emphasis on the God of love and forgiveness. But it is also important to recognize today’s temptations: double standards, violence, mercilessness, and many others just around the corner. Let’s stop justifying ourselves with “the context”. Let’s take a few minutes to reflect on how to overcome these temptations; and if we cannot always respond as Jesus taught us, let’s ask forgiveness.

Prayer: Jesus don’t let me fall into temptation, but free me from evil today and always. Amen.

LA SALIDA

1 Corintios 10:13
