HIS MERCY IS GREAT

Psalm 123

Have mercy upon us, O Lord,

Psalm 123:3 (NRSV)

            Some time ago, while undergoing various tests, I felt a great frustration because I thought that if I was dedicated to God I would not have to endure such difficulties. I was visiting the sick, praying without stop, reading his Word, but I still had problems. Then my first reaction was to get angry with God, but such an attitude brings no benefit, only the opposite. Finally, it was the cry for mercy in his presence that led me to face all the difficulties that had come my way at that time.

            God’s mercy is the correct place to which we ought direct our cries of frustration and the problems that confront us in our lives, especially when we are completely exhausted by such difficulties. Our plea for divine mercy rests on the reality of God being a merciful God, and in his hand is the power to help us in face of the terrible situations that confront us. Crying out for his mercy brings hope, and opens a safe door for the expected help.

 

Prayer: God of all mercy, teach us daily to come before you and present our frustrations to you so that we may continue resting in your mercy. Amen.

GRANDE ES SU MISERICORDIA

Salmo 123

Ten compasión de nosotros, Señor.

Salmos 123:3

            Hace algún tiempo, mientras pasaba por diversas pruebas, sentí una gran frustración porque pensaba que si estaba dedicado a Dios no pasaría por dificultades de aquel tipo. Visitaba a enfermos, oraba sin cesar, leía su palabra, pero igual tenía problemas en mi vida. Entonces mi primera reacción fue enojarme con Dios, pero tal actitud no trajo ningún beneficio sino todo lo contrario. Finalmente fue el clamor de misericordia ante su presencia lo que me llevó a enfrentar  todas las dificultades que habían aflorado en mi camino en aquel momento.

            La misericordia de Dios es la dirección correcta hacia donde debemos dirigir nuestro clamor ante las frustraciones y problemas que enfrentamos en la vida, sobre todo en esos momentos en que estamos completamente agotados por las tantas dificultades. Nuestra súplica por la misericordia divina descansa en la realidad de que Dios es un Dios misericordioso y en su mano está el poder para ayudarnos ante las más terribles situaciones que enfrentamos. Clamar por su misericordia trae esperanza, y abre una puerta segura para el auxilio esperado.

 

Oración: Dios de toda misericordia, enséñanos cada día a venir delante de ti, y presentarte nuestras frustraciones para seguir descansando en tu misericordia. Amén.
