ALL THE VOICES

Psalm 19: 12-14

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

            Reading this Psalm I remembered a biblical commentary which describes a song with three contrapuntal voices: the voice of creation, the voice of the word, and the voice of the sinner.

            The created order manifests itself, though without language; it communicates to our intuition that a glorious God exists who created such marvels. However, that intuition is limited, and it becomes confusing for us to understand why the beauty of the mountains and forests tell one truth and the storms and volcanoes another.

            But the Lord has not abandoned us in these uncertainties; God speaks with his word which is perfect and infuses us with new breath, wisdom, and joy to the heart. God’s word infuses authentic goals and worthy values.

            Today’s verses represent the voice of the sinner by which we have been advised about the results of obedience. It is the prayer we raise to the Lord from the depths of our hearts in the face of anxiety, incertitude or the pain of being aware of our errors and need for pardon, which will give new hope and longing for integrity.

            If God is known by the word he speaks, must we not also be so? Creation keeps silence, but we do not need to do so.

 

Prayer: Good God, thank you for allowing us to be a part of this, your world; forgive us and allow that we may be a part of Your Voice, carrying your Word to others as you taught us in your son Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sean, pues, aceptables ante ti mis palabras y mis pensamientos, oh SEÑOR, roca mía y redentor mío.

            Leyendo este Salmo recordé un cometario bíblico que lo describe como un canto de tres voces en contrapunteo: la voz de la creación, la voz de la palabra y la voz del pecador.

            El orden creado se manifiesta, aunque sin lenguaje; comunica a nuestra intuición que existe un Dios glorioso que creó tales maravillas. No obstante se muestra limitada, y se nos vuelve confuso entender por qué la belleza de las montañas  y bosques dicen una verdad y las tormentas y los volcanes otra.

            Pero el Señor no nos ha abandona en estas incertidumbres, nos habla con su palabra que es perfecta y nos infunde nuevo aliento, sabiduría, alegría al corazón. La palabra de Dios infunde objetivos auténticos y valores dignos.

            Los versículos de hoy representan la voz del pecador; de los que hemos sido advertidos de los resultados de la obediencia. Es la oración que elevamos al Señor desde lo profundo de nuestro corazón ante la angustia, la incertidumbre, o el dolor de sentirnos conscientes de nuestros errores y necesitados de su perdón, que dará nuevas aspiraciones y anhelos de integridad.

            Si Dios es conocido por la palabra que habla, ¿no hemos de serlo igualmente nosotros? La creación guarda silencio pero nosotros no debemos hacerlo.

 

Oración: Buen Dios, gracias por permitirnos ser parte de éste, tu mundo, perdónanos y permite que podamos ser parte de Tu Voz, llevando a otros tu Palabra, como nos enseñó tu hijo Jesucristo. Amén.
