THE LORD IS IN ALL TIMES

Ezekiel 34:11-16

I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down…. I will shepherd the flock with justice.

Ezekiel 34:15, 16b (NIV)

            The people of Israel had lost all that made up their life—land, king and temple. But in the midst of this catastrophe prophets like Ezekiel promoted the lifting up of her faith and proposed her purification. Prophets and priests made the people review their traditions in order to discover in them the foundation for their hope. No temple nor sacrifices anymore? Well, get together on Saturdays to celebrate God and meditate on God’s word. No king anymore? Well, God will be the only and true king of Israel. No land anymore? Well, the circumcision of the flesh will design a kingdom in spiritual dimensions.

            Humanity is passing through a difficult situation due to many situations which affect us at a global level; we have economic concerns, material concerns, anxieties of spirituality and reunions. Many people have died due to the pandemic or disasters, and others have not had access to necessary medical treatments. But it is in the midst of these difficulties where we should hold on to the holy presence of God. It is here where we can share that God is our good shepherd with our neighbor and our friends in other places.

 

Prayer: God of all times, allow us to always seek more for you, even in the midst of difficult situations. Amen.

EL SEÑOR ES EN TODO TIEMPO

Ezequiel 34:11-16

Como un pastor vela por su rebaño…así yo velaré por mis ovejas y las libraré…

Ezequiel 34: 15, 16b

            El pueblo de Israel había perdido todo lo que constituía su vida – la tierra, el rey y el templo. Pero es en medio de esta catástrofe donde profetas como Ezequiel provocan una exaltación de la fe y proponen su purificación. Profetas y sacerdotes hacen que el pueblo repase sus tradiciones para descubrir en ellas un fundamento a su esperanza. ¿No hay ya templo ni sacrificios? Pues se reunirán los sábados para celebrar a Dios y meditar en su palabra. ¿No hay ya rey? Pues Dios será el único y verdadero rey de Israel. ¿No hay ya tierra? Pues la circuncisión en la carne dibujará un reino de dimensiones espirituales.

            La humanidad está atravesando una situación difícil debido a muchísimas situaciones a nivel global que nos afectan; tenemos carencias económicas, materiales, ansias de espiritualidad y reencuentros, muchas personas han muerto por causa de la pandemia o desastres, y otras no han tenido acceso a los tratamientos médicos necesarios. Pero es en medio de estas dificultades donde debemos aferrarnos a la santa presencia de Dios. Es aquí donde podemos compartir con nuestro prójimo, con nuestros amigos en otros lugares, que Dios es nuestro buen pastor.

 

Oración: Dios de todos los tiempos, permite que siempre busquemos más de ti, aun en medio de las situaciones difíciles. Amén.
