Renovation

2 Corinthians 4:14-18

So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 4:16 (NRSV)

Everything tends to wear away, to wither, and even to fade away. Even the hardest and most solid basalt rocks are broken down by the pounding of the ocean waves, leaving their mark on the fine sand of the beaches.

On a spiritual level, Paul speaks of a different reality: our bodies wear out; the law of life and nature is real and applies to us as well, but this is not necessarily the case within us. Deep within our being, we can experience a continuous renewal that brings new strength and hope.

Together with the prophet Isaiah, we can say that those who hope in the Lord will have new vitality, wings like eagles, and strength to run without growing weary. God renews our inner being, today and always. We must trust that God works like a skilled potter, shaping our lives in his hands, day after day.

Prayer: Most Holy God, who inspires and uplifts your children, grant that we may feel your transforming power, renewing our lives for your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Renovación

2 Corintios 4:14-18

“Por eso no nos desanimamos. Pues, aunque por fuera nos vamos deteriorando, por dentro nos renovamos día a día”.

Todo tiende a desgastarse, a languidecer y hasta extinguirse. Las más firmes y sólidas rocas basálticas son quebrantadas por el batallar de las olas del mar y dejan su huella en la fina arena de las playas.

En el plano espiritual, Pablo habla de una realidad diferente: nuestro cuerpo se desgasta, la ley de la vida y de la naturaleza es real y se cumple también en nosotros, pero no necesariamente ocurre así en nuestro interior. En lo profundo de nuestro ser podemos experimentar una continua renovación que trae nuevas fuerzas y esperanzas.

Junto al profeta Isaías podemos decir que los que esperan en Yahvé tendrán una nueva vitalidad, alas como águilas, fortaleza en la carrera sin cansancio. Dios renueva nuestro interior, hoy y siempre. Debemos confiar en que Dios obra como buen alfarero, y moldea en sus manos nuestras vidas, día tras día.

Oración: Santísima Divinidad, que animas y levantas a tus hijos, haz que podamos sentir tu poder transformador, renovando nuestras vidas para tu gloria. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
