FAITH IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM

Matthew 8:18-27

The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

Matthew 8: 25 (NIV)

While the disciples were with Jesus in the boat, a great storm came up, and they began to panic because the Teacher had fallen asleep. Sometimes storms come into our lives that cause fear and despair, just as the disciples felt. We ask ourselves, “Has God fallen asleep? Does He not hear my cry?” Jesus answers: “Why are you so afraid, you of little faith?” Why do we get overwhelmed and despair? Let us face the storms that come into our lives with peace and faith! We cannot lose confidence that God is by our side. Even when everything is in chaos and we hear only God’s silence, we cannot think we are alone–He is at work; God walks with us, and His Spirit never leaves our side.

Let us learn to rest in the loving arms of Jesus. His presence is with us and gives us rest wherever we may go. No matter the circumstances, He is with us. May our hearts and minds find peace in the certainty of God’s love and care that are always present even in the midst of the storm. Let us stand firm in our faith and we will see the marvels of our God.

Prayer: God of miracles, let us recognize our weakness; we know that we despair and have many fears. Help us to remain steadfast in our faith so that we may overcome every storm that comes into our lives. For Jesus Christ, Amen.

FE EN MEDIO DE LA TORMENTA

Mateo 8:18-27

Y llegándose a Él, le despertaron diciendo: ¡Señor, sálvanos que perecemos!

Mateo 8: 25

Mientras los discípulos estaban con Jesús en la barca se desata una gran tormenta y ellos comenzaron a atemorizarse porque su Maestro se había quedado dormido. En ocasiones llegan a nuestras vidas tormentas que provocan temor y desesperación lo mismo que sintieron los discípulos y nos preguntamos ¿Acaso Dios se ha quedado dormido? ¿Acaso no escucha mi clamor? Jesús responde: ¿Por qué estáis amedrentados, hombres de poca fe? ¿Por qué nos agobiamos y desesperamos? ¡Atravesemos las tormentas que llegan a nuestra vida con paz y fe! No podemos perder la confianza que Dios está a nuestro lado, aunque todo este hecho un caos y solo escuchemos el silencio de Dios, no podemos pensar que estamos solos, Él está obrando; Dios camina con nosotros y su Espíritu no se aparta de nuestra vida.

Aprendamos a descansar en los brazos amorosos de Jesús, su presencia va con nosotros y nos da descanso a dondequiera que vayamos, no importa la circunstancia, Él está con nosotros. Que nuestra mente y corazón puedan estar tranquilos en la certeza que el amor y el cuidado de Dios permanecen siempre aun en medio de la tormenta. Mantengámonos firmes en nuestra fe, y veremos las maravillas de nuestro Dios

Oración: Dios de milagros, reconocemos nuestra debilidad, que nos desesperamos y tenemos muchos temores, ayúdanos a mantenernos firmes en nuestra fe para poder vencer toda tormenta que llegue a nuestra vida. Por Jesucristo, Amén.
