THE HEART THAT CHOOSES ONE LOVE.

Luke 1:26-38

No one can serve two masters at the same time

                                            Matthew 6:24 (NRSV)

Jesus isn’t exaggerating; he’s describing a real impossibility. The human heart isn’t designed for divided loyalty; it’s like trying to walk north and south at the same time: it simply can’t be done.

Jesus knows that we always serve something or someone. The problem isn’t just having two options, but that these options are mutually exclusive: For either a person will hate the one and love the other, or will be devoted to the one and despise the other.

Money, possessions, status–these aren’t neutral. They claim to take God’s place in our lives. They promise us security, but they bind us with anxiety; they promise us freedom, but they enslave us. That is why Jesus speaks of “serving” riches: because money always wants to be master, never a tool.

Our hope lies in the fact that we have a choice. We can cast off the chains of greed and worry because there is a better Lord. The God who created us does not ask us to serve him as fearful slaves, but to trust in him as beloved children. His service is freedom, for his yoke is easy and his burden is light.

When our heart chooses one Lord alone, we find the peace that money can never give: the peace of knowing that our life is in the hands of a Father who loves us.

Prayer: Lord, you are our only Lord. Deliver us from all divided love. Amen.

EL CORAZÓN QUE ELIGE UN SOLO AMOR.

Lucas 1:26-38

Nadie puede servir a dos patrones al mismo tiempo…

                                                               Mateo 6:24

Jesús no está exagerando, está describiendo una imposibilidad real. El corazón humano no está diseñado para la lealtad dividida, es como querer caminar hacia el norte y hacia el sur al mismo tiempo: sencillamente no se puede.

Jesús sabe que siempre servimos a algo o a alguien. El problema no es solo tener dos opciones, sino que estas son excluyentes: Porque o aborrecerá al uno y amará al otro, o estimará al uno y menospreciará al otro.

El dinero, las posesiones, el estatus, no son neutrales. Tienen la pretensión de ocupar el lugar de Dios en nuestra vida. Nos prometen seguridad, pero nos atan con ansiedad, nos prometen libertad, pero nos vuelven esclavos. Por eso Jesús habla de "servir" a las riquezas: porque el dinero siempre quiere ser amo, nunca instrumento.

La esperanza está en que podemos elegir. Podemos soltar las cadenas de la codicia y la preocupación porque hay un Señor mejor. El Dios que nos creó no nos pide que lo sirvamos como esclavos temerosos, sino que confiemos en Él como hijos amados. Su servicio es libertad, porque su yugo es fácil y ligera su carga.

Cuando nuestro corazón elige un solo Señor, encontramos la paz que el dinero nunca puede dar: la paz de saber que nuestra vida está en manos de un Padre que nos ama.

Oración: Señor, tú eres nuestro único Señor. Líbranos de todo amor dividido. Amén.
