A LIVING WITNESS
2 TIMOTHY: 4:1-8
I have fought the
good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith
2 Timothy 4:7
When I heard the news of the death of Armando Suárez, better
known as Pipo, the pastor to the sick, I thought that there actually are people
who come into this world in order to bear witness to the love of God. Pipo was
a vehement man who spoke of the work of visitation with incredible passion. His
vision was profound and his speech was very convincing when it came to carrying
the good news of Jesus Christ to the sick.
His prayer life was not limited to interceding for persons with
physical afflictions. His broad list of
objects of prayer included pastors, seminarians, and many people who confided
their needs to him. His memory of people’s names was proverbial, a quality
which attested to his care and his determination to be a good companion.
Pipo will always be with us, because his life showed us the
true way to accompany and to heal the most vulnerable.
We thank God for his witness.
Prayer: Good and gracious God, today we thank you for the life of
Armando Suárez; we know that he is in your presence. Let his life be a living
witness to responding to your call and following the career of faith. In the
name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

He peleado la buena batalla,
he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe
2 Timoteo 4:1
Cuando supe la noticia del
fallecimiento de Armando Suárez, más conocido por Pipo, el pastor de los
enfermos, pensé en que hay personas que realmente vienen a este mundo para dar
testimonio del amor de Dios. Pipo era un hombre vehemente, que hablaba de la
labor de visitación con una pasión increíble. Su mirada era profunda y su
palabra muy convincente cuando se trataba de llevar la buena noticia de
Jesucristo a las personas enfermas.
Su vida orante no se limitaba
a la intercesión por personas afectadas en su salud. En su amplia lista de
motivos de oración se encontraban también pastores, pastoras, seminaristas y
muchas personas que le confiaban sus necesidades. Era también proverbial su
memoria para llamar a las personas por su nombre, una cualidad que daba cuenta
de su cuidado y empeño como buen acompañante.
Pipo siempre estará con
nosotros, porque su vida nos mostró la verdadera manera de acompañar y sanar, a
los más vulnerables.
Damos gracias a Dios por su
testimonio.
Oración: Dios bueno, hoy queremos agradecerte por la vida de
Armando Suaréz, sabemos que él está en tu presencia. Permite que su testimonio
sea un ejemplo vivo para atender a tu llamado y seguir la carrera de la fe. Por Cristo Jesús. Amén.
