LOVE
1 CorintHIANS 13:1-13
Love never fails. But
where there are prophesies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will
be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Corinthians 13:8
Love… that sublime and mysterious word that represents something
invisible, indescribable, immaterial, and yet: How many people have not
attempted to describe it? Philosophers,
poets, painters, sociologists, and religious people of every nationality and of
all eras…
It seems to us at times that there is nothing more to be said about
it. We Christians, however, cannot allow
a single day such as today to pass without reflecting about the diversity, the
implications and miracles that are produced day by day beneath the banner of
love.
Over a long period of time humans knew God as a powerful being who could
offer us generous gifts, but who was also prone to an anger that made the earth
tremble and darkened life. This image of the creator made many people learn to
fear him instead of loving him. It was
the preaching and the life of Jesus Christ that offered a new version of love
and especially of the love of God.
We have seen his love laden with generosity, sacrifice and devotion, the
only way that allows us to resolve the conflicts of violence, intolerance and
aggression that are destroying the world in which we live, altering the family
relationships in our homes and filling our personal lives with fear.
There is no other alternative for mankind. We need to learn to love as he
loves us.
Prayer: Lord, give me a large heart in
order to love as You taught us. Amen.

EL AMOR

amor nunca deja de ser, pero las profecías se acabarán,
cesarán
las lenguas y el conocimiento se acabará

Amor…
sublime y misteriosa palabra que representa algo invisible, indescriptible,
inmaterial, y sin embargo ¿Cuántos no han intentado describirlo?
Filósofos, poetas, pintores, sociólogos y religiosos de todas las
nacionalidades de todos los tiempos…
A veces nos parece que no hay nada más que decir sobre
él, sin embargo los cristianos no
podemos dejar pasar un día como este para reflexionar acerca de la diversidad,
implicaciones y milagros que día a día se producen bajo el signo del amor.
Por mucho tiempo los seres humanos conocieron a Dios como
un ser poderoso, capaz de ofrecernos generosas dádivas, pero también presto a
la ira que hace temblar la tierra y oscurece la vida. Esta imagen del creador
hizo que muchos aprendieran a temerle antes que amarle. Fue la prédica y la
vida de Jesucristo quien nos ofreció una nueva versión del amor y en especial
del amor de Dios.
Hemos visto su amor cargado de generosidad, sacrificio y
entrega, el único camino que nos permitirá solucionar los conflictos de violencia, intolerancia y
agresividad que destruyen al mundo en que vivimos, alteran las relaciones
familiares en nuestros hogares y llenan de temor nuestras vidas personales.
No hay otra alternativa para la humanidad. Tenemos que
aprender a amar como él nos ama.
Oración: Señor, dame un
corazón grande para amar en la forma que Tú nos enseñaste. Amén.
