THE PLEASANT REPLY

COLOSSIANS 4:1-6

 so that I may reveal it clearly, as I should

            Formal education is something that, rather than a temporary slogan, should become a permanent attitude. A part of it should be responding pleasantly. It’s always comforting to receive a courteous response at any time.

            The exhortation of the Apostle to the gentiles is something to take well under consideration. As Christians we must not fail. Always and in every place, a friendly response is expected of us, a word that inspires, a phrase of encouragement.

            That ancient proverb of Solomon, a soft answer turns away wrath, is fulfilled with the commendation of Saint Paul. Pleasant and courteous ways of formulating the Gospel are integral to it, without in any way reducing the energy and courage that are inseparable parts of the Christian.

            If we can put into practice a response that is courteous, pleasant and friendly, those who converse with us will recognize a facet of Christianity that is often forgotten.

Prayer: God of love, we ask you to bless us in our work and in our relations with companions. Allow us to always have a reply that is pleasant, sincere and firm to share with those around us. Amen.

LA RESPUESTA AMIGABLE

COLOSENSES 4:1-6

Para que lo manifieste como debo hablar

Colosenses 4:4

La educación formal es algo que, más que un slogan del momento, deber convertirse en una actitud permanente. Como parte de ello debe estar el responder agradablemente. Es muy reconfortante el recibir una respuesta cortés en todo momento.

La exhortación del Apóstol de los gentiles es algo para tomar muy en consideración. Como cristianos no podemos fallar. Siempre y en todo lugar se espera de nosotros una respuesta agradable, una palabra que anime, una frase de aliento.

Aquel viejo proverbio de Salomón: la blanda respuesta quita la ira, se completa con la recomendación de San Pablo. Formulaciones agradables y corteses son circunstanciales con el Evangelio, aunque ello no reduce en nada la energía y valentía que son también parte indisoluble del cristiano.

Si fuéramos capaces de poner siempre en práctica una respuesta cortés, amigable y amable, nuestros interlocutores conocerían una faceta del cristianismo que a veces se olvida.

Oración: Dios de amor, te pedimos nos bendigas en nuestro trabajo y en las relaciones con nuestros compañeros y compañeras. Permite que siempre tengamos una respuesta amable, sincera y firme para compartir con los demás. Amén.
