GOD TESTS HIS OWN

DEUTERONOMY 13:1-5

You must not listen to the words of that prophet

or dreamer. The Lord your God

is testing you to find out

whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy 13:3 (NIV)

The Lord, as the prophet says, only asks you for love. Give him all yours, and always more, with more ardor and more impetus; and you will see that if you love him better, you will understand him more.

Several Bible texts recall the bitter consequences to the people because of their infidelity to God. These passages show us the image of a jealous God that does not tolerate infidelity. Listen to the voice of the Son and you will know how you should love the Father. You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

So, brothers and sisters, you cannot love both God and the evil world. May there not be a single cell of your body that fails to vibrate with love for your Creator. May there not be a single idea in your mind that does not sparkle with love for your God. May there not be a single spark in your spirit that fails to light your love for your Lord.

Prayer: Oh God of life, we want to love you as you love us. Help us and strengthen our spirit so that we do not seek so much to be loved, but to love. Amen.

DIOS PRUEBA A LOS SUYOS

DEUTERONOMIO 13:1-5

No darás oído a las palabras de tal profeta,

ni al tal soñador de sueños; porque Jehová vuestro Dios

os está probando, para saber si amáis a Jehová vuestro Dios

con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma.

Deuteronomio 13:3

El Señor, como dijo el poeta, solo te pide amor. Dale todo el tuyo y siempre más, con más ardor, con más ímpetu; y verás como amándole mejor, mejor le comprenderás.

En varios textos de la Biblia se nos recuerda las amargas consecuencias que vivió el pueblo por su infidelidad a Dios. Estos pasajes nos muestran la imagen de un Dios celoso que no tolera la infidelidad. Oye pues la voz del Hijo y sabrás cómo debes amar al Padre. Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente. Este es el primer mandamiento y el más grande. Y el segundo es semejante: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.

Así que, hermanos y hermanas, no podemos compartir nuestra adoración y nuestro amor a Dios con el mundo y con el mal Que  no se quede una sola célula de tu organismo que no vibre de amor por tu Creador. Que no se quede una sola idea de tu mente que no fulgure de amor por tu Dios. Que no se quede una sola chispa de tu espíritu que no relampaguee de amor por tu Señor.

Oración: Oh Dios de la vida, queremos amar como tú nos amas. Ayúdanos y fortalece nuestro espíritu para que no busquemos tanto ser amados, sino amar. Amén.
