IN ORDER TO WORSHIP GOD

EXODUS 20:1-17

God is spirit, and it is necessary to worship God in spirit and in truth.

John 4:24 (CEB)

God wants you and I to worship him in the best way possible.  Reflect on all that you have around you:  a world full of gifts from God—the air that we breathe, the beauty of the flowers, the colors of every sunrise and sunset, and the sacredness of each human being.  God says to us in his Word that when he created us, he made us in his image and likeness. 

It is in this sense that I understand the text for today’s meditation.  Our answer to this infinite grace that overflows in God’s creation is a life of worship in spirit and truth.  It is worship that God’s Spirit asks me to give him.  God is Spirit and I should worship him in spirit and in harmony with the truth, his truth revealed in the Bible and in Jesus Christ.

God wants and waits for our spiritual and true worship.  And with this goal I prepare my spirit to worthily worship him.  

Prayer: Eternal God, whose essence is spiritual, do not let my heart be clouded and my reason get fogged up, causing me to end up worshiping you in an unworthy manner.  Help me to worship you in Spirit and in truth as Jesus taught us.  In his name we pray, Amen.

PARA ADORAR A DIOS

ÉXODO 20:1-17

Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran en espíritu

y en verdad es necesario que adoren.

Juan 4:24

Dios quiere que tú y yo le adoremos de la mejor manera posible. Contempla todo lo que tienes a tu alrededor: un mundo lleno de regalos de Dios: el aire que respiramos, la belleza de las flores, los colores de cada amanecer y de cada atardecer, y la sacralidad de cada ser humano. Dios nos dice en su Palabra que cuando Él nos creó, nos hizo a su imagen y semejanza.

En este sentido es que comprendo el texto de la meditación de hoy. Nuestra respuesta a esa gracia infinita que se desborda en la creación de Dios es una vida de adoración en espíritu y en verdad. Es la adoración que Dios Espíritu me pide que le tribute. Dios es Espíritu y yo debo adorarle en espíritu y en armonía con la verdad, su verdad revelada en la Biblia y en Jesucristo.

Dios quiere y espera que nuestra adoración sea una adoración espiritual y verdadera. Y con este propósito preparo mi espíritu para adorarle dignamente.

Oración: Dios eterno, cuya esencia es espiritual, no permitas que mi corazón se nuble y mi razón se empañe y te adore de una manera indigna. Ayúdame a adorarte en Espíritu y en verdad como nos enseñó Jesús. En su nombre oramos, amén.
