MY STRENGTH AND MY SHIELD

Psalm 18:1-2

my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold

Psalm 18:2b (NRSV)

The Lord is my strength and my shield. He never stops working, at times in marvelous ways, to invigorate and protect us. The more we trust in him, the more our hearts will leap with joy.

Our Father wants us to trust him absolutely, resting in his sovereign control of the universe.

When worldly circumstances seem to be spinning out of control, let us cling to him with the security that he knows what he is doing. We can trust that he knows what he is doing and organizes each of the events of our lives for our benefit in this world and the next.

When we find ourselves in the midst of adversity, our great challenge is to continue trusting  that he is sovereign and good. Let’s not expect to understand his forms and styles.

When we respond to our trials with thanks, we make him happy, That act of faith enlivens us and glorifies him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you who are sovereign and good, calm our hearts when we don’t understand why we suffer from adversity. Allow us to be thankful despite our unfavorable circumstances. Amen.

MI FUERZA Y MI ESCUDO

Salmo 18:1-2
