SHIELD

2 Samuel 22:31

My God is my rock—I take refuge in him!—he’s my shield…

2 Samuel 22:3a (CEB)

            In the old days, fighters did not have the weapons nor the technology used in our day. They could only count on some items used to attack the enemy and some to defend themselves against the enemy.  One of the most important weapons of defense was the shield.  Some were made of wood, others of metals that were the most resistant to blows. 

            I am sure that the soldier knew that if he had a shield, he could save himself from being killed by the enemy’s spear.

            Life seems like a battle where we must fight to reach victory.  The enemies present themselves in various ways, filling our mind and heart with temptations and negative ideas that often make us lose sight of what God desires for us. 

            We must wear the shield of faith at all times.  We must trust in God, who will always be at our side to defend us and give us the strength necessary for victory.

 

Prayer:  Thank you, Lord.  I rest in you. I surrender my heart to you.  I wear the shield of faith that frees me from death in my life’s battle. Amen.

ESCUDO

2 Samuel 22:31

Dios mío, fortaleza mía, en él confiaré, mi escudo...

2 Samuel 22:3a

            En la antigüedad, los guerreros no tenían las armas ni la tecnología que se usan en las batallas de nuestros días. Sólo contaban con algunos elementos que le servían  para atacar al enemigo y defenderse de ellos. Una de las armas de defensa más importantes era el escudo. Algunos estaban hechos de madera, otros de metales más resistentes a los golpes.

            Lo cierto es que el soldado sabía que si tenía un escudo podría salvarse de morir atravesado por la espada enemiga.

            La vida se parece a una batalla en la que debemos luchar para lograr la victoria. Los enemigos se presentarán de distintas maneras, llenando nuestra mente y corazón de tentaciones e ideas negativas que  muchas veces nos hace que perdamos de vista lo que Dios desea para nosotros.

            En todo momento debemos llevar puesto el escudo de la fe. Debemos confiar en Dios, quien estará siempre a nuestro lado para defendernos y darnos las fuerzas necesarias para vencer.

 

Oración: Gracias Padre. Descanso en ti. Rindo mi corazón  a ti. Me pongo el escudo de la fe que me libra de morir en la batalla de mi vida. Amén.
