THIRST FOR THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Psalm 42:1-2

He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters;

Psalm 23:2 (NRSV)

            God is always sensitive to our needs. He never leaves us alone. According to the Psalm, He makes us rest and leads us to still waters.  There is a gentle and loving persuasion in those words. Patiently and persistently, the shepherd leads the sheep and takes them to a place where they can satisfy their hunger and  thirst: a cool and quiet place where there is shade and food; an oasis of possibility for satisfying the desires and the most immediate needs.

            God takes the initiative to seek us out and guide us to a place of rest. It is not we who seek him but he who seeks us. In some inexplicable way, God misses us;  he does not want to separate from us. We are always in his thoughts, and he constantly and patiently calls us, not only because we need him, but also because of his desire to always be by our side.

            The Lord invites us to seek him. Let us remember that we will be able to know the Lord more deeply  to the extent that we open our hearts for that blessing.

 

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, my words of gratitude will never be enough for your constant love and presence in my life, and for what you do new  Amen.

SED DE LA PRESENCIA DE DIOS

Salmo 42:1-2

Me haces descansar en verdes pastos y para calmar mi sed me llevas a tranquilas aguas.

Salmo 23:2

            Dios es siempre sensible a nuestras necesidades. Él nunca nos deja solos. Según el salmo, Él nos hace descansar y nos lleva a aguas tranquilas. En esas palabras hay  una persuasión gentil y amorosa. Paciente y persistentemente, el pastor estimula a las ovejas y las lleva a un lugar donde puedan saciar su hambre y sed: un lugar fresco y sosegado, donde hay sombra y alimento; un oasis de descanso, la posibilidad de satisfacer los deseos y las necesidades más inmediatas.

            Dios toma la iniciativa de buscarnos y guiarnos a un lugar de descanso. No somos nosotros quienes lo buscamos, sino que es Él quien nos busca. De alguna  manera inexplicable, Dios nos extraña, no quiere separarse de nosotros, estamos siempre en sus pensamientos y, sin cesar y pacientemente nos llama, no sólo porque lo necesitamos, sino también por su deseo de estar siempre a  nuestro lado.

            El Señor nos invita a  buscarlo. Recordemos que podremos conocer más profundamente al Señor en la medida en que abramos nuestro corazón para esa bendición.

 

Oración: Amado Padre Celestial, nunca serán suficientes mis palabras de gratitud por tu amor y presencia constantes en mi vida, y por lo que cada día haces nuevo en ella. Amén.
