Palm Sunday

MAY YOU BE BLESSED!

Luke 19:28-40

Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!  (NIV)

Luke 19:38

            Notice how public our Lord’s entry into Jerusalem was. He entered humbly, mounted on a donkey. In the passage, it is further related that as he approached the city he was surrounded by a multitude of his disciples who, rejoicing, began to praise God with a loud voice. This episode is of a very different nature from the rest of our Lord’s life. In general, he tried to avoid public observation, and retired to the desert and ordered those he had healed not to tell anyone what had happened. On this occasion, he puts reserve aside and seems willing for all to perceive and carefully note everything he does.

            His earthly mission was over, but he still had to do the work of offering himself as an atoning sacrifice and substitute for sinners. God, in his wisdom, directed events in such a way that there was no room for denial. As diverse as the statements concerning the atoning effect of the Redeemer’s death may be, there is no doubt about his own death as a historical event. In the sight of all, Jesus entered Jerusalem a few days before his death. In full view of all, he walked the streets of the city and uttered edifying words until the day he was betrayed. 

            The joy that Christ’s disciples felt upon entering Jerusalem is nothing compared to what all believers will experience when He appears again, clothed in glory and majesty. Every knee will bow before Him, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.

 

Prayer: Father, may we be prepared for the return of your Son. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

¡BENDITO SEAS!

Lucas 19:28-40

Decían: ¡Bendito el Rey que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas!

            Notemos cuán pública fue la entrada de nuestro Señor en Jerusalén. Entró humildemente, montado en un  burro. En el pasaje  se refiere, además, que al acercarse a la ciudad lo rodeó una multitud de sus discípulos que regocijándose comenzaron  a  alabar a Dios a gran voz. Este episodio es de una naturaleza bien distinta del resto de la vida de nuestro Señor. Él, por lo  general, procuraba evadirse de la observación pública, se retiraba al desierto y encargaba a los que sanaba que no  contasen a nadie lo acontecido. En esta ocasión deja a un lado la reserva y parece deseoso de que todos  perciban y noten con cuidado todo lo que hace.

            Su misión terrenal había terminado, pero todavía le faltaba llevar a cabo la obra de ofrecerse a sí mismo como sacrificio expiatorio y  como sustituto de los pecadores. Dios en  su sabiduría dirigió los acontecimientos de tal manera que no hubiese lugar a negación. Por diversos que sean los enunciados acerca de los efectos expiatorios de la muerte del Redentor, sobre su muerte misma, como  acontecimiento histórico, no hay duda alguna. A vista de todos entró Jesús en Jerusalén pocos días antes de su muerte; a  vista de todos anduvo por las calles de la ciudad y pronunció palabras edificantes hasta el día en que fue traicionado.

            El gozo que sintieron los discípulos de Jesucristo a su entrada en Jerusalén es nada comparado con el que todos los creyentes experimentarán cuando Él aparezca otra vez revestido de  gloria y majestad. Ante Él se  hincará toda rodilla y toda lengua confesará que Jesús es el Señor.

 

Oración: Padre permite que estemos preparados para el regreso de tu Hijo. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
