STEPS

Psalm 9:10

No one will be able to stand up against you during your lifetime.  I will be with you in the same way I was with Moses. I won’t desert you or leave you.

Joshua 1:5 (CEB)

            Surely, we have all heard or read that beautiful story where a person and Jesus talk after having traversed a long walk along the sea. Looking back, they can see two sets of footprints left in the sand, an image of what it means to walk with God at all times. What a joy to be accompanied by God throughout many years! But the person is surprised to check in some of the segments of the walk there is only one pair of footprints, and this coincides exactly with the times of greatest tests and crises. Then he rebuked the Lord for having left him alone in these circumstances. Jesus then responded to him with love and understanding, explaining that those footprints did not belong to the person, but to Jesus himself, when he took him in his arms in the most difficult parts of the path.

            Life is a path that we have to travel day after day. At times we cover long distances with relatives, friends or other people, who offer their company on the long journey. But no one can offer us that which only our Creator can and wants to give us:  his presence and strength in all situations that we have to face.

 

Prayer: Thank you Jesus, for you are always at our side in the good times and in the bad times.  Amen.

Centenario IPR “Aida Jorge” (Luyanó)

PISADAS

Salmo 9:10

Nadie te podrá hacer frente en todos los días de tu vida; como estuve con Moisés, estaré contigo; no te dejaré, ni te desampararé

Josué 1:5

            Seguramente todos escuchamos o leímos aquella hermosa narración en la que una persona y Jesús conversan luego de haber recorrido un largo sendero junto al mar. Al mirar hacia atrás pueden observarse las huellas que ambos dejaron en la arena, una imagen de lo que significa caminar con Dios en cada ocasión. ¡Qué alegría da ser acompañados por Él a lo largo de los años! Pero la persona se sorprende al comprobar que en algunos tramos del trayecto solo hay un par de pisadas, y eso justo coincide con los tiempos de mayores pruebas y crisis. Entonces le recrimina al Señor por haberlo dejado solo en esas circunstancias. Jesús entonces le responde con amor y comprensión, explicándole que aquellas huellas no son de la persona, sino de Él, que la tomó en sus brazos en las etapas más difíciles del camino.

            La vida es un sendero que debemos transitar día tras día. A veces recorremos grandes distancias junto a parientes, amigos o demás personas, quienes nos brindarán su compañía a lo largo del trayecto. Pero nadie podrá ofrecernos lo que sólo nuestro Creador puede y quiere darnos: su presencia y fortaleza en cada situación  que debemos enfrentar.

 

Oración: Gracias Jesús, porque siempre estás a nuestro lado, en las buenas y en las malas. Amén.
