WHY, GOD?

Judges 6

With all due respect, my Lord, if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us?

Judges 6:13a (CEB)

            Lamentably, in actuality, we hear a lot of talk about the prosperity gospel. Basically this gospel posits that if we accept Jesus, we will never have problems again.

            The people who embrace these concepts are faced with the same doubt that Gideon had, causing the inevitable difficulties that came upon him. In addition to feeling abandoned, Gideon had to recognize his impotence. The answer that God gave Gideon is the same one that God continues to give all who seek God sincerely and with a meek spirit. This answer is found in verse 16: “Trust in me, because I am with you.”

            We can be living in unfavorable circumstances, but God will always accompany us and comfort us. On the other hand, there is no philosophy that can help us escape the inevitable end to which all human beings arrive. Gideon recognized his vulnerability and looked for God before receiving the blessing of victory.

            In your case, have you felt abandoned when you had to face difficulties? Have you felt unable to resolve your problems? The answer of the Lord our God is the same that he gave to Gideon: you can do this because I will help you. With the help of the Lord, strengthened by God, we can have hope in the promise of Jesus: Trust. I have overcome the world.

Prayer: Lord, it doesn’t matter what I may have to go through. I know that I can always count on you, strengthened by your presence. Amen.

¿POR QUÉ, DIOS?

Jueces 6

Perdón, Señor; pero si Dios está con nosotros, ¿por qué nos pasa todo esto?

Jueces 6:13a

            Lamentablemente, en la actualidad, escuchamos hablar mucho sobre el evangelio de la prosperidad. Esto básicamente es que si aceptamos a Jesús, nunca más tendremos problemas.

            Las personas que abrazan estos conceptos se enfrentan con la misma duda que Gedeón, a causa de las inevitables dificultades que se les presentan. Además de sentirse abandonado, Gedeón tuvo que reconocer su impotencia. La respuesta que Dios le dio a Gedeón es la misma que continua dándonos a todos los que lo buscan sinceramente y con espíritu manso, y es la que está en el versículo 16: “confía en mí, porque yo estoy contigo”.

            Podemos vivir circunstancias aparentemente desfavorables, pero Dios siempre nos acompañará y consolará. Por otra parte, no existe filosofía alguna que nos ayude a escapar de lo inevitable que alcanza a todo ser humano. Gedeón reconoció su vulnerabilidad y buscó a Dios antes de recibir la bendición de la victoria.

            En su caso, ¿usted ya se sintió abandonado cuando tuvo que enfrentar dificultades? ¿Se sintió incapaz de solucionar sus problemas? La respuesta del Señor nuestro Dios, es la misma que le dio a Gedeón: puedes hacer esto porque yo te ayudaré. Con la ayuda del Señor, fortalecidos por Él, podemos tener la esperanza en la promesa de Jesús: Confiad. Yo he vencido al mundo.

 Oración: No importa Señor, por lo que tenga que atravesar. Sé que siempre puedo contar contigo, fortalecido por tu presencia. Amén.
