EARTHQUAKES

Psalm 125:1

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;  though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalms 46:2-3 (NRSV)

            People who have suffered the terrible experience of going through an earthquake say that everything feels normal until suddenly everything changes. At first they think that they are just feeling a strange sensation, but they quickly realize that something serious is going on: the whole earth is shaking. Then everyone runs around in desperation.

            Unfortunately, life will have moments that seem like earthquakes: acts, times, and situations that have the power to fell us and often to ruin us.

            We can’t prevent earthquakes, but it is possible to take certain precautions with the intent of being safe and surviving. In life, some things are inevitable, but we can do what we must to hang on and keep going.

            The most important: lets get close to God and trust him. Even though everything around us is shaking, he will help us and keep us stable.

 

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for I am sure that at all times I will find my strength in you. Amen.

TERREMOTOS

Salmo 125:1

Por tanto, no temeremos, aunque la tierra sea removida, y se traspasen los montes al corazón del mar; aunque bramen  y se turben sus aguas, y tiemblen los montes a causa de su braveza

            Las personas que han sufrido de la terrible experiencia de pasar por un terremoto, comentan que todo parece normal hasta que de un momento a otro todo cambia. Al principio muchos piensan que se trata de una sensación, pero pronto se dan cuenta de que algo serio pasaba: la tierra estaba temblando. En ese momento todos corren desesperados.

            En la vida, desafortunadamente, habrá momentos que parecerán terremotos. Hechos, momentos y situaciones que tienen el poder de hacernos caer y muchas veces arruinarnos.

            No se puede evitar que suceda un terremoto, pero sí es posible tomar ciertas precauciones para intentar estar a salvo y sobrevivir. En la vida hay cosas inevitables, pero podemos hacer lo que esté a nuestro alcance para sostenernos y seguir adelante.

            Lo más importante: acerquémonos a Dios y confiemos en Él. Aunque todo tiemble a nuestro alrededor, Él nos ayudará a mantenernos firmes.

 

Oración: Gracias Señor, porque estoy seguro de que en ti encuentro mi fortaleza en todo tiempo. Amén.
