LIVING BY FAITH

2 Corinthians 4:7-18

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. (NIV)

2 Corinthians 4:7

            Clay is a fragile and moldable material, useful for making objects.

            In antiquity, it was common to store goods and objects in clay vases. “Treasure,” in the text, refers to the illumination of the understanding of God’s glory.

            The fragile vase is the body, the “external man,” prone to affliction and death.

            The message of salvation in Jesus Christ has been confided to people fragile like clay. Even though weak, God uses us to spread the Good News and gives us power to fulfill his work. Knowing that the power is ours, we can avoid pride overcoming us. This motivates us to have daily contact with God. Our responsibility is that people may see God through us. 

            Renew your commitment to serve Christ. Do not renounce your eternal reward because of the intensity of a current situation. Your weakness allows that the power of Christ’s resurrection be manifested and strengthen you moment by moment.

 

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for choosing us; use us so that your power may shine through us. Amen.

VIVIENDO POR LA FE

2 Corintios 4:7-18

Pero tenemos este tesoro en vasos de barro para que la excelencia del poder sea de Dios y no de nosotros

2 Corintios 4:7

            El barro es un material frágil y moldeable, útil para construir objetos.

            Era común en la antigüedad el guardar bienes y objetos en vaijas de barro. En el texto, “tesoro” se refiere a la iluminación del conocimiento de la gloria de Dios.

            El frágil vaso es el cuerpo, el “hombre exterior”, propenso a aflicciones y muerte.

            El mensaje de salvación en Jesucristo ha sido confiado a personas frágiles como el barro. Aun siendo débiles, Dios nos usa para difundir las Buenas Nuevas y nos da poder para cumplir con su obra. Conociendo que el poder es suyo, podemos evitar que el orgullo se apodere de nosotros. Esto nos motiva a tener un contacto diario con Dios. Nuestra responsabilidad es que las personas vean a Dios a través de nosotros.

            Renueve su compromiso de servir a Cristo. No renuncie a su recompensa eterna por causa de la intensidad de una situación actual. Su debilidad permite, que el poder de la resurrección de Cristo se manifieste y le fortalezca, momento a momento.

 

Oración: Señor, gracias por elegirnos, úsanos para que tu poder resplandezca a través de nosotros. Amén.
