CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD

Psalm 125

Know that I am with you until the end of the world.  (NIV)

Matthew 28:20

            You have, without doubt, noted the desperation that predominates in all societies today.

            Without mistake, we can assert that human  life is like a boat on the ocean.

            We need a good anchor during life’s storms to prevent our boat from drifting, and it requires that we drop it into the depths. We can see neither the anchor nor the cable attached to it, but through faith we know it’s there, since it keeps the boat aright. Furthermore, if you want to enter the port at night, you need a lighthouse. Anchor and lighthouse give security.   

            This psalm is an image of God’s protection. It’s a prayer for life’s dark moments when things break down, when the fruits of action cannot be seen. It’s also a prayer when we feel powerless before injustice and violence, before corruption and stupidity that perhaps penetrated even as far as the most sacred and least imagined spaces. Prayer demands confidently surrendering to God’s plan that brings security and peace.        

 

Prayer: My God, may your light guide me until I reach your presence. and there drop anchor for the last time. Amen.

CONFIAZA EN EL SEÑOR

Salmo 125

Sepan que estoy con ustedes hasta el fin del mundo.

Mateo 28:20

            Sin dudas, has notado la desesperación que predomina en todas las sociedades actuales.

            Podemos afirmar sin equivocarnos, que la vida de los seres humanos es como un barco en el océano.

            Durante las tormentas de la vida necesitamos de una buena ancla, que evite que nuestro barco vaya a la deriva y exige que soltemos  nuestra ancla hacia las profundidades. No podemos ver ni el ancla ni el cable atado a la misma, pero por fe sabemos que está allí ya que mantiene al barco firme. Además, si quieres entrar el puerto en la noche, necesitas la luz de un faro. Ancla y faro te dan seguridad.

            Este salmo es una imagen de la protección de Dios. Es una oración para los momentos oscuros de la vida, cuando las cosas no salen, cuando no se ve el fruto de la acción. Es también una oración cuando nos sentimos impotentes frente a la injusticia y la violencia, frente a la corrupción y la torpeza que penetró tal vez hasta dentro de los espacios más sagrados y menos imaginados. Oración que demanda entregarse confiadamente a la acción de Dios que trae seguridad y paz.

 

Oración: Dios mío, que tu luz me guíe hasta llegar a tu encuentro y allí echar el ancla por última vez. Amén.
