Trinity Sunday

THE HOLIEST TRINITY

John 16:12-15

“All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”(NIV)

John 16:15

            Before, Jesus had promised the apostles that the Spirit would remind them of his teachings. Now he promises them that the Spirit would guide them to all the truth. The Spirit’s ministry is directed not only to believers and to the world, but also to confirm Christ’s authority and to glorify Christ in all he does. The true ministry in the Holy Spirit never serves private objectives; on the contrary, it works in the believers and through the believers and never exalts itself, rather it glorifies the Father.

            The mission of the Son was that of revealing and glorifying the Father through words and works. In the same way, the mission of the Spirit is that of revealing and glorifying the Son through words and works. As Jesus is the intermediary between the Father and mankind, the Spirit is the intermediary between the glorified Christ and mankind.

            Let us keep in mind a comforting promise this passage contains: “The Spirit of truth,” our Lord said to his disciples, “would guide them to all truth.” That promise was made to us as well as them. Everything that may be necessary to know to obtain peace and satisfaction, the Holy Spirit has the will of teaching it to us. Of course, this is not about scientific or philosophical truths. The Spirit directs himself to teach us of all spiritual truth that may be beneficial for us, those that our shallow understanding is inadequate to understand. Therefore, when we read the Bible, do not forget to implore the help of the Holy Spirit who inspired that word.

 

Prayer: Lord, may your Holy Spirit always be in and with us. Amen.

Domingo de la Trinidad

LA SANTISIMA TRINIDAD

Juan 16:12-15

Todo lo que el Padre tiene, es mío también; por eso dije que el Espíritu recibirá de lo que es mío y se los dará a conocer.

Juan 16:15

            Antes, Jesús había prometido a los apóstoles que el Espíritu les recordaría sus enseñanzas. Ahora les promete que el Espíritu los guiaría a toda la verdad. El ministerio del Espíritu está dirigido no solamente a los creyentes y al mundo, sino también a confirmar la autoridad de Cristo, y glorifica a Cristo en todo lo que hace. El verdadero ministerio en el Espíritu Santo nunca sirve a objetivos privados. Por el contrario, trabaja en los creyentes, y a través de los creyentes, y nunca se exalta a sí mismo, sino que glorifica al Padre.

            La misión del Hijo era la de revelar y glorificar al Padre por palabras y obras; en igual manera la misión del Espíritu es la de revelar y glorificar al Hijo por palabras y obras. Como Jesús es el intermediario entre el Padre y los hombres, el Espíritu es el intermediario entre el Cristo glorificado y los hombres.

            Tengamos presente una promesa consoladora que este pasaje contiene. El Espíritu de verdad, dijo nuestro Señor a sus discípulos, los  guiará a toda verdad. Esa promesa fue hecha a nosotros así como a ellos. Todo lo que nos sea necesario saber para obtener la paz y la  santificación, el Espíritu Santo tiene la voluntad de enseñárnoslo. Por supuesto que no se trata de verdades científicas y filosóficas. El Espíritu se digna guiarnos a toda verdad espiritual que pueda sernos provechosa y que nuestro débil entendimiento no alcance a comprender. Por lo tanto,  cuando leemos la Biblia, no olvidemos implorar el auxilio del Espíritu Santo, quien inspiró esa Palabra.

 

Oración: Señor, que tu Espíritu Santo siempre este en nosotros y con nosotros. Amén.
