LET’S MOVE IN THE SPIRIT

Acts 1:12-14

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses….

Acts 1:8 (NIV)

            We have this promise from God which often we do not fully capture.  The Lord has clothed us in a spirit that is not cowardice but power, joy and self-control (2 Tim. 1:7). This spirit is like armor so we can live joyfully in the Lord.

            At the announcement of Jesus’ birth, Mary, despite the circumstances, trusted and rejoiced.  In the same way when the apostles went down the Mount of Olives after the ascension of the Lord, they united in prayer, seeking God’s favor.

            We ought to follow this example ourselves.  As today’s disciples, we should trust that God has given us a joyful power to preach, heal, serve and remove evil forces. For this we should follow the teachings that the Teacher left us:  share bread with others, visit the sick, help those in need. In this way we will heal with love and companionship and expel the demons of loneliness, selfishness and many others that impede our way.

 

Prayer: We ask to be your worthy witnesses, from the simplicity of your call, that puts us within reach of the power of your spirit, Amen.

MOVERNOS EN EL ESPÍRITU

Hechos 1:12-14

…pero recibiréis poder cuando haya venido sobre vosotros el espíritu santo y me seréis testigos….

Hechos 1:8

            Tenemos esta promesa de parte de Dios de la cual muchas veces no captamos su potencial. El Señor nos ha revestido de un espíritu que no es de cobardía, sino de poder, de gozo y de dominio propio (2 Tim 1.7). Este espíritu es como una armadura para que vivamos gozosos en Él.

            Desde el anuncio del nacimiento de Jesús, María, a pesar de las circunstancias, confió  y se regocijó. De igual modo cuando los apóstoles bajaron del monte de los Olivos, después de la ascensión del Señor, se unieron en oración y ruego agradecido a Dios.

            Este ejemplo deberíamos seguirlo nosotros, sus discípulos de hoy, debemos confiar en que Dios nos ha otorgado un jubiloso poder para predicar, sanar, servir y derrotar las fuerzas del mal. Para ello debemos seguir las enseñanzas que nos dejó el Maestro: compartir el pan con los otros, visitar al enfermo, ayudar a quien lo necesite; así sanaremos con amor y compañía y expulsaremos los demonios de la soledad, el egoísmo y tantos otros que imperan en nuestro medio.

 

Oración: Te pedimos ser dignos testigos tuyos, desde la sencillez de tu llamado, que nos pone al alcance el poder de tu espíritu. Amén.
