Anniversary of San Antonio de los Baños

PRAYING AT ALL TIMES

Mark 11: 22-26

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

            One time I had the opportunity to participate in a worship service in a Korean church in Busan.  Before the service began our hosts gave us a tour of the different rooms attached to the sanctuary. I remember that there was one very cozy little room and when I asked what they did there, they told me:  “A small prayer group gathers here during the worship service is going on.  They pray that all will go well, the choir’s songs, the preacher’s sermon and through the entire liturgy.”

            What an impact on me!  We almost always make use of prayer to ask God for sick and needy persons or for personal and community problems, but this experience in the Korean church made me reflect on the need to put ourselves in the hands of God even when we praise and adore God.  And it is for special activities in the church that we almost always pray they go well, but we should pray for every worship service.  Even though we participate in worship every week and know the liturgical order very well, we should always put ourselves in God’s hands so that worship may really be a spiritual place of inspiration, commitment, hope and genuine adoration.

 

Prayer: God of infinite mercy, we give you thanks because you offer us the privilege of prayer to communicate with you. We ask you to help us make use of prayer not only in the difficult times, but in all of our life.  Through Jesus we pray, Amen.

Aniversario IPR de San Antonio de los Baños

ORAR EN TODO MOMENTO

Por tanto, os digo que todo lo que pidáis orando, creed que lo recibiréis y os vendrá

            En una ocasión tuve la oportunidad de participar de un servicio litúrgico en una iglesia coreana en Busan. Antes de comenzar el culto nuestros anfitriones nos dieron un recorrido por los diferentes salones anexos al templo. Recuerdo que había una salita muy acogedora y cuando pregunté qué se hacía en ese lugar me respondieron: “Aquí se reúne un pequeño grupo de oración, mientras está desarrollándose el culto. Ellos oran para que todo salga bien, los cantos del coro, la predicación del pastor, y por los diversos momentos de la liturgia”.

            ¡Quedé impactada! Casi siempre hacemos uso de la oración para implorar a Dios por los enfermos y necesitados, por los problemas personales y comunitarios, pero esta experiencia de la iglesia coreana, me hizo reflexionar sobre la necesidad de ponernos en manos de Dios hasta para alabarle y adorarle. Y es que en actividades especiales en la iglesia, casi siempre oramos para que todo salga bien, pero deberíamos orar por cada culto, pues aunque participamos de él cada semana y conocemos muy bien el orden litúrgico, siempre debe ponerse en manos de Dios, para que sea realmente un espacio espiritual de inspiración, compromiso, esperanza y adoración genuina.

 

Oración: Dios de infinita misericordia, te damos gracias porque tú nos ofreces el privilegio de la oración para comunicarnos contigo. Te pedimos que hagamos uso de ella no sólo en los momentos difíciles, sino en toda nuestra vida. Por Jesús oramos, Amén.
