GIVE THEM AN EXAMPLE

Titus 2:1-10

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

Luke 6:41(NIV)

            The words of Paul to Titus are an exhortation of pastoral advice, so that the whole church functions in the most integrated way.  The words of Jesus in Luke 6 are very well directed to those who are dedicated to giving advice without first advising themselves.

            We are called to advise our brothers and sisters, to guide them along good paths, to teach them how to love God and serve God unconditionally by loving neighbor.  But first let us analyze if we are convinced that we are the most suitable to give advice, if we ourselves do not put into practice what Christ taught with his example. If we are really simple, humble of heart and kind, then we are capable of instructing and counseling by example, achieving ourselves that which we want our neighbor to do.

            Let us remember that with our acts we can fool those who don’t know us, but not God.  If in truth we say that we believe in God, let us fulfill what God commands us, because God is our Supreme Judge.

 

Prayer: Lord, we ask you for those who erroneously give advice without first looking at their own faults.  Through Jesus, Amen.

DALES EL EJEMPLO

Tito 2:1-10

¿Por qué miras la paja que está en el ojo de tu hermano, y no echas a ver la viga que está en tu ojo?

Lucas 6:41

            Las palabras de Pablo a Tito son una exhortación al aconsejamiento pastoral, de modo que la iglesia toda funcione de la manera más íntegra. Las palabras de Jesús en Lc 6 vienen muy bien a quienes se dedican a estar dando consejos sin que primero se aconsejen a ellos mismos.

            Estamos llamados a aconsejar, a guiar por buenos caminos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas, a enseñarles cómo deben amar a Dios y servirle incondicionalmente amando al prójimo. Pero analicemos ante todo si estamos convencidos que somos los idóneos par dar consejos, si llevamos nosotros a la práctica lo que nos enseñó Cristo con su ejemplo. Si somos en realidad sencillos, humildes de corazón y bondadosos, entonces seremos capaces de instruir y aconsejar con el ejemplo, logrando lo que queremos que haga nuestro prójimo.

            Recordemos que con nuestros actos podemos engañar a quienes no nos conocen, pero no a Dios. Si de verdad decimos creer en Él, cumplamos lo que Él nos manda, porque Él será nuestro Juez Supremo.

 

Oración: Señor, te pedimos por aquellos que, erróneamente, aconsejan sin mirar primero sus defectos. Por Jesús. Amén.
