GOOD NEWS

Luke 10:1-9

Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’

            It is a fact that the number of inhabitants of the planet continues to grow, perhaps at worrying levels in many regions, where food insecurity or wars generate emigration, violence, poverty and injustice. In this manner despair and discouragement continue to grow, but the sad result of this is that the tragic reality of such facts is lost and converted into daily news bites that don’t create action and compassion.

            In today’s reading we find ourselves in the same position today as then, where many people, families, and diverse groups wait for our greetings of peace. It’s easy for us Cubans to strike up a conversation and have a cup of coffee, or share with our neighbor what we have at hand. Moved by Jesus’ words, extending the word of comfort, of love, unlimited forgiveness and reconciliation, can  bring about the most effective healing of a troubled spirit.

            These words and actions of love can arouse great curiosity in many, and some doubt in others, but let us leave those who are not ready to receive us at this moment to God. Let’s follow the instructions of the Master, announce to all that God’s Reign, where we fulfill God’s good will is within everyone’s reach.

 

Prayer: Lord, place in my heart the desire to go and announce to the world the words of life eternal to those who do not know you. Amen.

LA BUENA NOTICIA

Lucas 10:1-9

Cuando entren en una casa, saluden primero, diciendo: “Paz  a esta casa”

Lucas 10:5

            Es un hecho que el número de habitantes del planeta sigue creciendo, tal vez a niveles preocupantes en muchas regiones, donde la inseguridad alimentaria o las guerras generan emigración, violencias, pobrezas e injusticias. De esa manera siguen creciendo la desesperanza y el desaliento, pero el resultado triste de esta realidad es que se pierde la realidad trágica de tales hechos y se convierten en noticia cotidiana que no mueve a la acción y a la compasión.

            El texto de hoy nos coloca en la misma posición de entonces frente al mundo de hoy, donde muchas personas, familias y grupos diversos esperan nuestro saludo de paz. No es difícil para nosotros los cubanos entablar una conversación y tomar una taza de café, o compartir con el vecino lo que tengamos a la mano. Extender la charla movidos por las palabras de Jesús, de consuelo, de amor, perdón sin límites y reconciliación, puede resultar la más eficaz sanación para un espíritu turbado.

            Estas palabras y acciones de amor pueden despertar gran curiosidad en muchos, y alguna duda en otros, pero dejemos a Dios con aquellos que de momento no están preparados para recibirnos. Sigamos las instrucciones del Maestro, anunciemos a todos que el Reino de Dios, el lugar donde hagamos cumplir su buena voluntad, está al alcance de todos.

 

Oración: Señor,  pon en mí el deseo de ir a anunciar al mundo las palabras de vida eterna a aquellos que no te conocen. Amén
