CHRIST AND THE LAST TRIMESTER

Ephesians  5:1:20

…always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

            We end the second quarter of 2022 with this meditation.

            We should remember that there are times when it is hard to lift one’s voice and give thanks. Not always because of a misfortune suffered in a personal way.  We can be very affected by the injustices in society around us, by poverty, or catastrophes. Our “whys?” can become thorns.

            I believe that I do not have a totally uplifting explanation.  Faith is expressed at times in big tests.  God hides in some opportunities as if God were behind a mask.  It is a fact that Jesus Christ had to suffer, also on the cross, and these hard tests of faith as well.

            Paul’s recommendation for these times is to find refuge in the name of Jesus, which literally means salvation, rescue. That is to say, this very same name is a prayer, as much praise as supplication. But many do not use the name of Jesus with due intention. They take the name of Jesus as a formula for their own enrichment.  They take the name of God in vain.

            Let us use Jesus’ name with more humility, with more respect, with more sense of gratitude.  This name by which the powers of the universe bend, recognizing that He is Lord. 

 

Prayer:  Father and Lord, may you always continue to be the center of my life. Amen.

CRISTO Y EL FINAL DEL TRIMESTRE

Den siempre gracias a Dios al Padre por todas las cosas, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo

Efesios 5:20

            Con esta meditación cerramos este segundo trimestre del año 2022.

            Debemos reconocer que hay momentos cuando resulta difícil elevar la voz y dar gracias. No siempre se trata de una desgracia sufrida en forma personal. Podemos estar muy afectados por las injusticias en la sociedad en nuestro alrededor, la pobreza, catástrofes. Nuestros “por qués” se pueden convertir en espinas.

            Creo que no tengo una explicación totalmente esclarecedora. La fe está expuesta a veces a grandes pruebas. Dios se esconde en algunas oportunidades como detrás de máscaras. Es un hecho  que Jesucristo  tuvo que sufrir, además de la cruz, también estas pruebas durísimas de la fe.

            La recomendación de Pablo para estos momentos es refugiarse en el nombre de Jesús, que literalmente significa: salvación, rescate. Es decir, el mismo nombre es una oración, tanto de alabanza como de  súplica. Pero muchos no usan el nombre de Jesús con la intención debida. Toman el nombre de Jesús como una fórmula para su propio enriquecimiento. Toman el nombre de Dios en vano.

            Deberíamos usar su nombre con más humildad, con más respeto, con más sentido de gratitud; este nombre por el cual las potestades en el universo se doblan reconociendo: Él es el Señor.

 

Oración: Padre y Señor, que siempre tú continúes como el centro de mi vida. Amén.
