MAY WE LIVE IN UNITY

John 17:23

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had. (NIV)

Romans 15:5

            How does one live in unity with so many different kinds of people? There are those who prefer vivid colors to dress themselves; others prefer darker colors. There are congregations which like classical and traditional hymns, others prefer more contemporary hymns.    

            Christians differ on many questions, and the result may at times be conflict within and without the church. Despite that, we must exercise patience, and the breath that God gives for helping us to live in harmony together.

            Our salvation is based in him whom we worship, not on where or how we may do it. To be nit-picking regarding the cut, the style, or color of our spiritual clothes makes us succumb to our carnal nature and not God’s will for us.

            Personal preferences and sincere opinions are what change us into individuals. Every believer has a gift to share within the body of Christ. If we were all equal how could we grow and learn? Jesus prayed for unity among believers; God encourages us to do the same.

 

Prayer: Father, thank you because you give me the capacity and power to walk in unity with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I pray for the unity of Christians. May it begin with me. Amen.

VIVAMOS  EN UNIDAD

Juan 17:23

Que Dios, quien da esa paciencia y ese ánimo, los ayude a vivir en plena armonía unos con otros, como corresponde a los seguidores de Cristo Jesús.

Romanos 15:5

            ¿Cómo se vive en unidad con tantos tipos de diferentes personas? Hay quienes prefieren colores vivos para vestirse; otros, colores apagados. Hay congregaciones en las que gustan de himnos clásicos y tradicionales; otras, de himnos más contemporáneos.

            Los cristianos discrepan en muchas cuestiones y el resultado suele ser a menudo el conflicto dentro de la iglesia y fuera de ella. A pesar de ello, debemos ejercer la paciencia y el aliento que Dios proporciona para ayudarnos a vivir en armonía los unos con los otros.

            Nuestra salvación se basa en aquel a quien adoramos, no dónde ni cómo lo hagamos. Ser quisquillosos en cuanto al corte, al estilo o color de nuestra ropa espiritual hace que sucumbamos a nuestra naturaleza carnal y no a la voluntad de Dios para nosotros.

            Las preferencias personales y las opiniones sinceras son lo que nos convierte en individuos. Cada creyente tiene un don que compartir dentro del Cuerpo de Cristo. Si todos fuéramos iguales ¿cómo podríamos crecer y aprender? Jesús oró por la unidad entre los creyentes. Dios nos alienta a hacer lo mismo.

 

Oración: Padre, gracias porque me das la capacidad y el poder de andar en unidad con mis hermanos y hermanas en Cristo. Oro por la unidad de los cristianos. Haz que empiece por mí. Amén.
