FIRM

2 Peter  1: 5-11

. . . let us hold fast to our confession

Hebrews 4:14b (NRSV)

              Life is full of situations that can make people move from their positions and conceptions. In matters of faith, this also implies dealing with what does not fit into our preconceived and memorized schemes, but without internalizing or critically analyzing them.

              In our churches we can see people who attend, who to all appearances seem to be walking well in the path of faith. Nevertheless, some detail arises that upsets them, some act which they see as incorrect and personally harmful, or on the other hand, suceses in life for which they can find no explanation or sense that God is not in control of the things that occur.

              The epistles constantly encourage us to hold fast without wavering to the hope of our calling. The author of the Letter to the Hebrews insists that the same Jesus endured the greatest test conceivable, for which he has been rewarded as being “at the right hand of God.” This is the privilege of those who have remained faithful and found strength in the midst of trials.

 

Prayer: Lord, we come to ask you today to augment our faith and keep us firm in our conviction. Thus, may our witness reach others. Amen.

FIRMES

...Por eso debemos seguir firmes en la fe que profesamos

Hebreos  4: 14b

            La vida está llena de situaciones que pueden hacer mover a las personas de sus posiciones y conceptos. En materia de fe esto implica, además, lidiar con lo que no encaja dentro de nuestros esquemas preconcebidos y aprendidos de memoria, pero sin interiorizarlos o analizarlos de manera crítica.

            Por nuestras iglesias se han visto pasar personas que asisten, que al parecer marchan muy bien en el camino de la fe, pero entonces ocurre algún detalle por el que se disgustan, alguna acción que creyeron incorrecta y les dañó en lo personal, o también sucesos de la vida a los cuales no le encuentran una explicación y sienten que Dios no ha estado en control de las cosas ocurridas.    

            Las epístolas nos estimulan constantemente a mantener sin fluctuar la esperanza de nuestra vocación. El autor de la carta a los Hebreos insiste que el mismo Jesús soportó la mayor prueba concebible, por la cual ha obtenido la recompensa de hallarse “a la diestra de Dios”. Este es el privilegio de quienes se han mantenido fieles y han hallado fuerzas en medio de las pruebas.

 

Oración: Venimos a pedirte hoy, Señor, que aumentes nuestra fe y que nos mantengas firmes en nuestra convicción. Que nuestro testimonio alcance así a otros. Amén.
