SURE JOY

Psalm 1

Everyone who honors the Lord, who walks in God’s ways, is truly happy.

Psalm 128:1 (CEB)

            On one occasion, Jesus taught that everything a person sows he or she will reap. True of Perogrullo, who picked up the popular proverb: “the one who sows wind will reap storms.”

            The psalmist knows that it is best to meditate on the divine Word, for from the Word comes the fount of our action, the inspiration of our thoughts and eternal values which guide us on this path of life toward eternity with God.

            Also, just as Jesus said, the wide or spacious path can seem adequate but in the end it is not. The narrow path, the one that is the Lord’s path, can seem uncomfortable or limited, but to exercise our faith in him, we find joy, extreme happiness and we found that this is what really has value in this life. The rest of the things are misleading, temporary and can even be destructive. But the one who does the will of God will last forever (1 John 2:17).

            Can you aspire to a better joy?

 

Prayer: Our good God, help us to scrutinize your Word and to find in it all the joy that we need in this life. In Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

UNA DICHA CIERTA

Salmo 1

Dichosos todos los que honran al Señor. ¡Dichosos los que van por sus caminos!

Salmo 128:1

            Jesús enseñó en una ocasión que todo lo que uno siembra es lo que cosechará. Verdad de Perogrullo, que recoge el refranero popular: “quien siembra vientos, recogerá tempestades”.

            El salmista sabe que lo mejor es meditar en La Palabra divina, pues de ella nos viene la fuente de nuestra acción, la inspiración de nuestros pensamientos y los valores que son eternos, que nos guían en este camino de la vida hacia la eternidad con Dios.

            Tal como diera también Jesús, el camino espacioso o ancho puede parecer adecuado pero su fin no lo es. El camino estrecho, el del Señor, puede parecer incómodo o limitado, pero al ejercitar nuestra fe en ello, encontramos dicha, felicidad extrema, y hallamos que es lo que realmente tiene valor en esta vida. Las demás cosas son engañosas, temporales y puede que sean hasta destructivas. Pero el que hace la voluntad de Dios, permanece para siempre (1 Juan 2:17).

            ¿Se puede aspirar a una dicha mayor?

 

Oración: Nuestro buen Dios, ayúdanos a escudriñar tu Palabra y a encontrar en ella toda la dicha que necesitamos en esta vida. En Jesucristo oramos, Amén.
