THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN GOD

Psalm 106: 1-5

We have sinned, even as our ancestors did; we have done wrong and have acted wickedly. (NIV)

Psalm 106:6

            Psalm 106 is a call to remember God, but not just in any way, rather from the practice of justice and respect for truth; but why does the psalmist ask the Lord for salvation through justice and truth? It’s simply that the people had forgotten them.

            The exit from Egypt, the crossing of the Red Sea, the rescue from enemy hands are now old news  and the people  no longer remembered the Lord’s acts and designs. 

            How many times in our lives, when faced with limiting situations, have we pleaded to God, and we make promises to ourselves  that, once adversity is overcome, we will change, but we soon again fall back into indifference and continue our lives without fulfilling what we swore to change?

            Many times, much like that people whom the Lord freed from captivity,  we prefer to side-step the truth and ignore justice because to act definitively in accordance with those principles involves a multitude of problems.

            Whether it be in personal situations or not, God always expects from us an integral proceeding to the principles proclaimed by Christianity: justice and truth.

 

Prayer: God, strengthen us to fulfill the promise made and always act in accordance with justice and truth. Amen.

OLVIDARON A DIOS

Salmo 106: 1-5

Hemos pecado igual que nuestros antepasados, hemos cometido delitos y maldades

Salmo 106:6

            El Salmo 106 es un llamado a recordar a Dios, pero no de cualquier forma sino desde la práctica de la justicia y el respeto a la verdad; pero… ¿por qué el salmista le pide al Señor la salvación desde la justicia y la verdad?, simplemente porque el pueblo las había olvidado.

            La salida de Egipto, el cruce del Mar Rojo, el rescate de manos de sus enemigos, eran historias ya pasadas y el pueblo no recordaba los hechos y designios del Señor.

            Cuantas veces ante situaciones límites en nuestras vidas pedimos a Dios y le hacemos, y nos hacemos, promesas que una vez superada la adversidad, caen en la indiferencia y continuamos nuestra vida sin que lo que juramos cambiar sea cumplido.

            Nosotros, como aquel pueblo que el Señor libró del cautiverio, muchas veces preferimos esquivar  la verdad e ignorar la justicia porque definitivamente actuar conforme a estos principios nos conlleva a multitud de problemas.

            Sea en situaciones personales o no, Dios siempre espera de nosotros un proceder íntegro a los principios que proclama el cristianismo: justicia y verdad.

 

Oración: Dios nos fortalezca para cumplir la promesa realizada y actuar, en todo momento de la vida, conforme a la justicia y la verdad. Amén.
