WE SING TO YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE SAVED US

Psalm 81:1-5

Sing aloud to God our strength;

            Our own story is the continuation of the one and only story of God’s people in all times and places. For that reason, at the arrival of the new moon, and also that of the full moon, or whatever other time, we praise God who hears our prayers, frees us from all evil, offers us freedom, and lightens our burdens.

            Each week when, thanks to divine initiative, we gather in the service of worship, we celebrate the liberating actions that God brings about in our lives. Music and song are perfect media for expression of the gratitude of our hearts; thus our singing must be neither timid nor monotonous. Even though our voices may not be trained, when singing they must express  our joy and our gratitude to the God who brings us salvation.

            This Psalm reminds us that each day is a special occasion to connect us with God’s goodness and to exclaim with joy, as the hymns says: “With joy we want to praise You; we come to You today  to sing with joy. We lovingly keep your commandments, and we commit our lives to You, O Lord."

 

Prayer: Lord, in this new day that you give me, may I feel grateful, may I remain alert and open to any newness of life.

TE CANTAMOS PORQUE NOS HAS SALVADO

Salmo 81:1-5

¡Canten alegres a Dios, que es nuestra fuerza!

Salmo 81:1

            Nuestra propia historia es continuidad de la única y misma historia del pueblo de Dios en todos los tiempos y lugares. Por esa razón, al llegar la luna nueva, y también al llegar la luna llena o cualquier otro tiempo, alabamos al Dios que escucha nuestras oraciones, nos libra de todo mal, nos ofrece libertad y aligera nuestras cargas.

            Cada semana, cuando por iniciativa divina nos congregamos en el culto de adoración, celebramos los actos liberadores que Dios realiza en nosotros. La música y el canto son medios perfectos para expresar la gratitud de nuestros corazones, de aquí que nuestro canto no debe ser ni tímido ni monótono. Nuestras voces, aunque no sean voces entrenadas, al cantar han de expresar nuestra alegría y nuestro agradecimiento al Dios bueno que nos trae salvación.

            Este salmo nos recuerda también que cada día es una ocasión especial para conectarnos con las bondades de Dios, y para exclamar con júbilo, tal como dice el himno: “Con alegría te queremos loar, a Ti venimos hoy con gozo a cantar. Tus mandamientos cumplimos con amor, y nuestras vidas te entregamos, Señor”.

 

Oración: Señor, que en este nuevo día que me regalas, sienta agradecimiento, me mantenga alerta y en actitud de apertura hacia cualquier novedad de vida. Amén.
