THE TRUE LIGHT

Luke 4:22-30

Jesus said to them, “The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. If you walk in the darkness, you do not know where you are going. . .”

John 12:35 (NRSV)

Jesus used symbols of light and shadows and identified himself with the light, saying that the light was among them. His presence, his teachings, his actions illuminated things; that is, they clarified the true reality and the meaning of actions. His presence revealed the truth that gives assurance on the journey.

Whoever rejects the light walks in shadows, follows falsehood, travels on unknown paths and doesn’t know where he is going.

The text wants to encourage us to walk according to truth, which is the light that illuminates the path. Many people believe that they can walk securely based on lies. Lies are darkness, an uncertain path in which no one knows where it comes from or where it goes.

 

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you are my light, today and all the days of my life.Amen.

LA VERDADERA LUZ

Lucas 4:22-30

Jesús les dijo: Todavía  estará entre ustedes la luz, pero solamente por un poco de tiempo. Anden, pues, mientras tienen esta luz, para que no les sorprenda la oscuridad; porque el que anda en oscuridad, no sabe por dónde va

Jesús utiliza los símbolos de la luz y las tinieblas y se identifica con la luz, diciendo que ella estaba entre ellos. Su presencia, sus enseñanzas, sus actos, iluminaban las cosas, o sea, aclaraban la verdadera realidad y la intención de las acciones. Su presencia revelaba la verdad que daba seguridad al caminar.

El que rechaza la luz, anda en tinieblas, sigue la mentira, camina por caminos desconocidos, y no sabe a dónde va.

El texto nos quiere alentar a andar según la verdad, que es la luz que ilumina el camino. Sólo la verdad dará seguridad, traerá la libertad. Muchos creen que se puede caminar seguro basándose en mentiras. La mentira es tiniebla, es camino inseguro que no se sabe de dónde parte ni hacia dónde va.

 

Oración: Tú eres mi luz, Señor Jesús. Hoy y todos los días de mi vida, amén.
