JANUARY 28

ACCOMPANYING JESUS

Luke 23:6-12

Then all the disciples left Jesus and ran away.

Matthew 26:56 (CEB)

It was such a beautiful thing to be with Jesus when he spoke with the people. It was almost an honor to be his helpers, passing out bread to the hungry crowd, guiding the sick to receive Jesus’ healing. It is also an honor today to be a leader in the Church and guide the people to Jesus, administering the good of God. It is a beautiful thing to go to church, to worship and listen to the Word and the preaching.

But when He is taken prisoner, who stays with Him? When Jesus finds himself in trouble, who remains at his side? When He is carrying the cross, we prefer to carry our own problems, and not to be at his side, carrying the heavy burdens of others. We flee from the cross because to be there we would have to leave many things behind ourselves and discover the needs of so many who suffer.

Will we accompany Him today? without being ashamed of others, without fear of reputation, intending to live not only for ourselves, but for others? Jesus lived for others. That is why He remained alone, because the others thought too much of themselves. Jesus can remain alone again today. But we can choose to accompany Him.

Prayer: Forgive me Lord Jesus when I abandon you to follow other interests. You deserve me to honor you with every step I take. In your name, we pray. Amen.

ENERO 28

ACOMPAÑANDO A JESUS

Lucas 23:6-12

Y dejamos solo a Jesús.
