PREACHING THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD

Luke 4:16-30

“Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

Luke 4:21 (NRSV)

It is notable that Jesus went to the synagogue later that day, and he was given the scroll of scriptures to read, and that this reading was the righteous declaration of his ministry. Much annoyance arose in the Jews when he declared, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

When we say that we are in a position of equality and help with the poor, the marginalized, with those who suffer violence it’s the same; we are frowned upon by those who do not understand that to be Christians, believers, we must follow the plan that Jesus indicated that day. The believers of Jesus Christ say: With everyone.

The acceptable year of the Lord is not fulfilled if we do not bring hope to those who are blind, to those who are not free or are isolated.

Let us not fool ourselves, praise does not end with worship, just as it did not end that day in the synagogue. All our time is for worship of God, to bear witness to life and service.

 

Prayer: Father eternal, place in us your grace that we may do the work that you give us every day, the acceptable year of the Lord. Amen.

PREDICANDO EL AÑO AGRADABLE AL SEÑOR

Lucas 4:16-30

Hoy se ha cumplido esta escritura delante de vosotros.

Lucas 4:21

Es singular que Jesús haya ido a la sinagoga después de un tiempo y que ese dia le dieran a leer el rollo de las escrituras, y que esa lectura fuera la declaración justa de su ministerio. Mucha molestia suscitó en los judios declarar: Hoy se ha cumplido esa profecia.

Igual cuando decimos que estamos en una posición de igualdad y de ayuda con los pobres, marginados, con los que sufren violencia, somos mal vistos por los que no entienden que para ser cristianos, creyentes, hay que seguir el proyecto que señaló Jesús ese dia. Los creyentes de Jesucristo decimos: Con todos.

El año agradable del Señor no es cumplido si no llevamos esperanza a los que están ciegos, a los que no tienen libertad o están solos.

No nos engañemos, la alabanza no termina con el culto, como no terminó aquel dia en la sinagoga. Todo nuestro tiempo es de adoración a Dios, para dar testimonio de vida y servicio.

 

Oración: Oh Padre Eterno, pon en nosotros tu gracia para hacer la obra que nos das cada dia, El año agradable el Señor. Amén.
