Faith and kindness heal by laughing at the same joke

Psalm 27:1

This is a story I shared recently in my church prayer group. The story goes that in a talk on how to overcome problems, the speaker began by telling a very funny joke. Of course, everyone in the room burst out laughing. After a few seconds of pause, the speaker retold the same joke in exactly the same way as the previous time. Some laughed again but most only smiled slightly. Then he repeated the joke a third time. This time no laughter was heard. After a silent and awkward pause, the speaker says to those present: No one can laugh at the same joke over and over again. So why do we cry over and over again about the same problem

Problems will always be present as long as we live in this sin-filled world. But as Christians we count on the unconditional help of our eternal Father. We have to learn to trust in this promise because many times things are difficult for us.

Let us not despair, let us trust in God and his promises. Sometimes his answers take time or maybe his will is not what we expected. But if we put our lives in his hands, we can be sure that everything that happens will be for our good.

 

Prayer: Lord, into your hands I place my anxieties, my sorrows and pains. These are difficult moments, but in you I find peace and calm in the midst of the storm. Thank you for your promise to never abandon me. Amen.

La fe y la bondad sanan riendo del mismo chiste

Salmo 27:1

Esta es una historia que compartí hace poco en el grupo de oración de mi Iglesia. Se cuenta que en una charla sobre cómo superar los problemas, el orador comenzó contando un chiste muy gracioso. Por supuesto, todos los presentes se rieron a carcajadas Después de unos segundos de pausa, el orador volvió a contar el mismo chiste exactamente de la misma manera que la vez anterior. Algunos volvieron a reír pero la mayoría sólo sonrió levemente. Luego volvió a repetir el chiste por tercera ocasión. Esta vez no se escuchó ninguna risa Después de una pausa silenciosa e incómoda, el orador le dice a los presentes: Nadie puede reír de la misma broma una y otra vez. Entonces ¿por qué lloramos una y otra vez por el mismo problema?

Los problemas estarán siempre presentes mientras vivamos en este mundo lleno de pecado. Pero como cristianos contamos con la ayuda incondicional de nuestro Padre eterno. Tenemos que aprender a confiar en esta promesa porque muchas veces las cosas se nos ponen difíciles.

No nos desesperemos, confiemos en Dios y en sus promesas. A veces sus respuestas tardan o quizás su voluntad no sea lo que esperábamos. Pero si ponemos nuestras vidas en sus manos, podemos tener la seguridad de que todo lo que sucede será para nuestro bien.

Oración: Señor, en tus manos coloco mis angustias, mis penas y dolores. Son momentos difíciles, pero en ti encuentro paz y calma en medio de la tempestad. Gracias por tu promesa de no abandonarme nunca. Amén.
