TALENTS OR GIFTS

Matthew 25:14-30

For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance;

Matthew 25:29a (NRSV)

The first time I heard the word TALENT as a child, I related it to the work of the Women's Association.

Talent came to be synonymous with work to improve the finances of the Church or of the Women’s Association.

Later I understood that putting our talents at the service of God and our neighbor is rewarded at its fair value. The use of our gifts gives the measure of our faithfulness.

The most perfect among men was faithful to us by putting his talents at our services. Those talents were his simple Word, his knowledge of scriptures and people, healing of body and soul and the sacrifice of his life for humanity.

To be faithful we need to follow his example of life and work, using our gifts and talents as has entrusted us. It will be good to hear: come, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.

 

Prayer: All powerful God, you, the giver of all good, take my life and use it for the good of the church and of our neighbor. Amen.

TALENTOS O DONES

Mateo 25:14-30

Porque al que tiene, le será dado y tendrá más.

Mateo 25:29a

La primera vez que escuche la palabra TALENTO siendo niña aun, la relacione con el trabajo de la Fraternidad de Mujeres.

Talento vino a ser sinónimo de trabajo para mejorar la economia de la iglesia o la Fraternidad.

Más tarde entendi que poner nuestro talento al servicio de Dios y el prójimo, es recompensado en su justo valor. El uso de nuestros dones da la medida de nuestra fidelidad.

El más perfecto entre los hombres nos fue fiel al poner sus talentos a nuestros servicios. Esos talentos eran su Palabra fácil, su conocimiento de las Escrituras y las personas, sanador de cuerpo y alma y el sacrificio de su vida por la humanidad.

Para se fieles debemos seguir su ejemplo de vida y obra, usar nuestros dones y talentos como Él nos dejó encomendado. Será grato escuchar; ven buen siervo y fiel, sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré. Entra en el gozo de tu Señor.

 

Oración: Dios omnipotente, tú, el dador de todo bien, toma mi vida y úsala en bien de la iglesia y de nuestro prójimo. Amén.
