WE’RE GOING FISHING

John 21: 1-14

“Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find some.”

John 21: 6a. (NRSV)

It is almost understandable that in the situation the disciples found themselves, they would think of going fishing. Jesus had been raised, but they still had received no concrete instructions about how to proceed. They had neither food nor money, and they did what they knew. When they arrived in Galilee, Simon Peter said, “Let’s go fishing,” and the seven went together. But it was in vain. Dawn came, and they had caught nothing. Jesus arrived and set everything right. “Cast your net to the right,” and there was a miracle. It was difficult to get the fish out, but the job was done.

Without Jesus’ support, we work in vain, no matter how many plans we make, no matter if our “networks” are the best. That day’s message was clear: Jesus, Head of the Church, is the one who sails and travels with her. He will always be near, and trusting in him, our steps will be certain and firm.

Let us trust in the Risen God and he will work with us, for our good and that of the community.

 

Prayer: God of life, give us the faith and confidence to cast the net in your name. Amen.

VAMOS A PESCAR.

Juan 21: 1-14

Echad la red a la derecha de la barca y hallaréis

Juan 21: 6a.

Es casi comprensible que, en la situación de los discípulos, pensaran en ir a pescar.  Jesús había resucitado, pero aún ellos no habían recibido instrucciones concretas de qué hacer en lo adelante. No tenían comida ni dinero e hicieron lo que sabían.  Llegados a Galilea, Simón Pedro dijo, vamos a pescar y fueron los 7 que estaban juntos.  Pero fue en vano. Llegó el amanecer y no habían pescado nada. Jesús llegó y todo se arregló. Echen la red a la derecha y ya estuvo el milagro. Fue difícil sacarlos fuera, pero se hizo el trabajo.

Sin el apoyo de Cristo, en vano trabajamos, no importa cuántos planes hagamos, no importa que nuestras “redes” sean las mejores. El mensaje de ese día fue claro: Jesús, Cabeza de la Iglesia es quien vela y camina con ella. El siempre estará cerca; y confiados en esto, nuestros pasos serán seguros y firmes

Confiemos en el Dios Resucitado y obrará con nosotros, para nuestro bien y de la comunidad.

 

Oración:  Dios de la vida, danos la Fe y Confianza necesaria para echar la red en tu nombre. Amén.
