THE WORK OF THE BOARD OF DEACONS

Acts 6: 1-7

Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them. (NIV)

Acts 6: 3

This is the first mention of deacons in the Bible, although they do not appear by that exact name. In our daily lives we call them that: deacons and deaconesses. At that time, only men were the ones who could occupy that responsibility. Today, in our churches, we have countless women who perform various tasks in the house of God.

How important it is to serve God and his people in different ways! And what better way to do it than through service: organizing the hymnals, placing the paraments of the corresponding liturgical color, collecting and counting the offerings, visiting the sick, evangelizing, building the Kingdom of God.

Our Father teaches us to be humble, to help those in need, to accompany those who feel or are alone. A thank you to our deacons and deaconesses for their noble work!

 

Prayer: Divinity, thank you for your great love, for your teachings. It acts in and through us. Be our refuge and company. Amen.

LA LABOR DE LA JUNTA DIACONAL

Hechos 6: 1-7

Escojan entre ustedes a siete hombres de buena reputación, llenos del Espíritu Santo y de sabiduría, a los cuales encargaremos este servicio

Esta es la primera mención a los diáconos en la Biblia, aunque no aparecen con ese nombre exactamente, en nuestro día a día los llamamos así: diáconos y diaconisas. En aquel tiempo solo los hombres eran quienes podían ocupar esa responsabilidad; actualmente en nuestras iglesias contamos con un sinnúmero de mujeres que realizan diversas tareas en la casa de Dios.

¡Cuán importante es servir a Jehová y a su pueblo de disímiles formas! Y qué mejor manera que hacerlo a través del servicio: organizando los himnarios, colocando los paños del color litúrgico que corresponde, recogiendo y contabilizando las ofrendas, visitando a los enfermos, evangelizando, construyendo el Reino de Dios.

Nuestro Padre nos enseña a ser humildes, a ayudar al necesitado, a acompañar a quienes se sienten o están solos y solas. ¡Gracias a nuestros diáconos y diaconisas por su noble labor!

 

Oración: Divinidad, gracias por tu gran amor, por tus enseñanzas. Actúa en y a través de nosotras y nosotros. Sé nuestro refugio y compañía. Amén.
