OUR GOD IS MERCIFUL!

Jonah 3:1-10

When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.

Jonah 3:10 (NIV)

Jonah was to preach only what God had told him. It was a message of condemnation against one of the most powerful cities in the world. It was not the most pleasant task, but those who carry the Word of God to others must not let social pressures nor fear dictate their words. They are called to preach God’s message and truth; however unpopular they may be. 

The pagan people of Ninevah believed Jonah’s message and repented. The people of Israel had heard many messages from the prophets and had not wanted to repent. The people of Ninevah heard God’s message only once. 

What pleases God is not that we hear His Word, but that we respond with obedience. God responded with mercy. God forgave Ninevah, just as He had forgiven Jonah. He is always willing to show compassion to anyone who seeks Him.

Prayer: Beloved Father, help us to be obedient to You at all times. May your words be a shower of blessings upon us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

¡NUESTRO DIOS ES MISERICORDIOSO!

Jonas 3:1-10

Y vio Dios lo que hicieron, que se convirtieron de su mal camino; y se arrepintió del mal que había dicho que les haría, y no lo hizo.

Jonás 3:10

Jonás debía predicar solo lo que Dios le decía. Era un mensaje de condenación contra una de las ciudades más poderosas del mundo. No era la tarea más agradable, pero los que llevan la Palabra de Dios a otros no deben dejar que las presiones sociales ni el temor dicten sus palabras. Son llamados a predicar el mensaje y la verdad de Dios, por impopular que sea.El pueblo pagano de Nínive creyó el mensaje de Jonás y se arrepintió. El pueblo de Israel había escuchado muchos mensajes de los profetas, y no habían querido arrepentirse. El pueblo de Nínive solo escuchó una vez el mensaje de Dios. Lo que agrada a Dios no es que escuchemos su Palabra, sino que respondamos con obediencia. Dios correspondió con misericordia. Dios perdonó a Nínive, como había perdonado a Jonás. Siempre está dispuesto a mostrar compasión a cualquiera que le busque.

Oración: Padre amado, ayúdanos a ser obedientes a ti en todo momento, que tus palabras sean una lluvia de bendiciones hacia nosotros. En el nombre de Jesús, amén.
