AN INVITATION

Luke 9:22-25

Then he said to them all, ‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me…”

Luke 9:23 (NRSV)

This passage invites reflection on the nature of Jesus’ ministry and the response it elicits in his followers. In the text, Jesus performs miracles, teaches, and withdraws to pray, showing his constant connection with God. The crowd that follows him seeks answers and healing, which resembles our own search for meaning and hope in times of difficulty.

The revelation of Jesus’ identity as the Messiah is a key moment. When Peter confesses that Jesus is the Christ, a new understanding of what it means to be the Son of God is revealed. However, Jesus teaches that his path will not be one of vain glory, but one of suffering and self-sacrifice. This paradox challenges our expectations of leadership and success. The invitation to take up the cross and follow him resonates deeply in our daily lives. It calls us to give up our comforts and live with authenticity and commitment.

Prayer: Dear God, teach us to carry our own cross and follow you. Amen.

UNA INVITACION

Lucas 9:22-25

También Jesús decía a toda la gente: ˓˓ Si alguno quiere seguirme, que se niegue a sí mismo, que cargue con su cruz de cada día y que me siga.

El pasaje invita a reflexionar sobre la naturaleza del ministerio de Jesús y la respuesta que produce en sus seguidores. En este texto Jesús realiza milagros, enseña y se retira a orar, mostrando su conexión constante con Dios, La multitud que lo sigue busca respuestas y sanación, lo que asemeja nuestra propia búsqueda de significado y esperanza en los momentos de dificultad.

La revelación de la identidad de Jesús como el Mesías es un momento clave. Cuando Pedro confiesa que Jesús es el Cristo, se abre un nuevo entendimiento sobre lo que significa ser el Hijo de Dios. Sin embargo, Jesús enseña que su camino no será el de la vanagloria, sino el del sufrimiento y la entrega. Esta paradoja desafía nuestras expectativas sobre el liderazgo y el éxito. La invitación a tomar la cruz y seguirlo resuena profundamente en nuestra vida diaria. Nos llama a renunciar a nuestras comodidades y a vivir con autenticidad y compromiso.
