Our Strength

Mark 6:1-6

Then Jesus said to them, “Prophets are not without honor, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house.”

Mark 6:4 (NRSV)

It is often difficult for some people, especially those closest to you, to take you into account or recognize your gifts and values. Sometimes it is because they have known you since childhood, others because they judge you unfairly, or for where you come from, or because they find it difficult to accept you. The truth is that for some people it is very difficult to show their knowledge in their closest circles.

It was difficult for Jesus to preach his message in his own village. His neighbors and relatives did not take him seriously. They did not understand how someone they had known all their lives could now speak in such a way. Jesus understood that, accepted it, but it didn’t immobilize him or turn him aside from the mission to which he had been called.

It is important to believe in yourself, to know your worth and the knowledge you can share, even if there is resistance from others. The honesty and certainty of our actions will truly show who we are. Let no one hinder our growth and performance; there will always be someone who benefits from our experiences and knowledge, especially when they are filled with humility and goodness.

Prayer: God, help me to be confident in what I can do with the gifts you gave me. Amen.

Nuestro valor

Marcos 6:1-6

Pero Jesús les dijo: - En todas partes se honra a un profeta, menos en su propia tierra, entre sus parientes y en su propia casa.

Es bien difícil, en ocasiones, que algunas personas, especialmente las más cercanas, te tomen en cuenta o reconozcan tus dones y valores. A veces, porque te conocen desde la infancia, otras porque te juzgan injustamente por tu procedencia y otras simplemente porque les cuesta aceptarlo. Lo cierto es, que para algunas personas es bien difícil mostrar sus saberes en los círculos más cercanos. A Jesús le fue difícil predicar su mensaje en su propia aldea, sus vecinos, sus familiares no lo tomaron en serio, no entendían, como alguien a quien habían conocido toda la vida, podía ahora hablar de esa manera. Jesús lo entendió, lo asumió, pero no se paralizó, ni detuvo la misión a la que había sido llamado. Es importante creer en uno mismo, saber el valor que se tiene y los saberes que puede compartir, aunque haya resistencia por parte de otros, la honestidad y certeza de nuestras acciones, mostrará realmente lo que somos. Que nadie impida nuestro crecimiento y desempeño, siempre habrá alguien que se beneficie de nuestras experiencias y conocimientos, sobre todo cuando van llenas de humildad y bien.

Oración: Dios ayúdame a tener confianza en lo que puedo hacer con los dones que me diste. Amén.
