 AN INCLUSIVE CALL

Luke 5:27-32

After this Jesus went out and saw a tax-collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, ‘Follow me.’

In the text, we find the calling of Levi, a tax collector, and the subsequent dinner that Jesus shares with him and other sinners. Levi, a man despised for his work, receives a direct invitation from Jesus: Follow me. This calling not only transforms his life but also challenges the social norms of the time. Here, Jesus redefines the notion of justice and purity, emphasizing that his grace is available to everyone, regardless of their past.

This passage invites us to reflect on our own attitudes toward those we consider different or undesirable. Are we willing to reach out and open our doors to those who need love and acceptance? Levi's story reminds us that an encounter with Jesus can transform lives, calling us to be part of his redemptive work and challenging us to live an active faith that seeks inclusion and love for others.

Prayer: Dear God, please help us to accept and love those around us. Amen.

 UN LLAMADO INCLUSIVO

Lucas 5:27-32

Después de esto, Jesús salió y vio a un cobrador de impuestos llamado Leví, que estaba sentado donde se cobraban los impuestos. Le dijo:  Sígueme.

En el texto, encontramos el llamado de Leví, un recaudador de impuestos, y la posterior cena que Jesús comparte con él y otros pecadores. Leví, un hombre despreciado por su trabajo, recibe una invitación directa de Jesús: Sígueme. Este llamado no solo transforma su vida, sino que también desafía las normas sociales de la época. Aquí, Jesús redefine la noción de justicia y pureza, enfatizando que su gracia está disponible para todos y todas, sin importar su pasado.

Este pasaje nos invita a reflexionar sobre nuestras propias actitudes hacia quienes consideramos diferentes o indeseables. ¿Estamos dispuestos a extender la mano, y a abrir nuestras puertas a quienes necesitan amor y aceptación? La historia de Leví nos recuerda que el encuentro con Jesús puede transformar vidas, que nos llama a ser parte de su obra redentora y nos desafía a vivir una fe activa, que busca la inclusión y el amor hacia los demás.

Oración: Amado Dios, permite que podamos aceptar y amar a quienes nos rodean.  Amén.
